Colombia is one of the world’s largest coffee exporters, but it also keeps a lot of this particular crop for its own consumption. So not only does the country export some of the best coffee in the world; it’s home to some of the best coffee shops in the world, too. Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, is home to over 10 million people, covering a large area in the Andes mountain range. Within this large area the city has a large number of unique coffee houses and cafes, home to some of Colombia’s best coffee, driven straight from the farms to the shops within a matter of days. Here’s the lowdown on where to find the city’s best coffee.

Azahar is a unique cafe located in Bogotá’s lively Park 93. This cafe has a choice of coffee from the Nariño, Antioquia, Huila and Quindío departments of Colombia. In addition to choosing your coffee’s growing department you can choose how you would like your coffee to be brewed: French Press, Chemex, Siphon, V60 Dripper or Aeropress. Azahar Cafe works directly with coffee farms and associations, and in the cafe you can learn all about the farm that grew the different types of coffee available and the journey your coffee has taken from farm to cup. Azahar also has a ‘coffee lab’ in Antioquia, which tests and identifies flavours.
