It’s summertime in Panama! Before the rainy season begins at the end of March, check out this list of the best summertime activities that Panama has to offer, from hiking to biking to park days and ice cream – there’s a little something for everyone.

Avenida Balboa, Panama City

Take a stroll Through Parque Andres Bello

A delightful gem of peaceful greenery in the heart of El Cangrejo is the much-adored park, Parque Andres Bello. Always abuzz with children on the playground, exercise groups getting their Zumba on, and casual basketball games underway in the court, passersby are sure to get an insight into the lively local community here. Also featured is an adult playground full of workout equipment, an enclosed area with a safe play area that’s fun for smaller children, and a leash-free, gated dog zone for Fido to run in.

Food trucks for days

Most food trucks that take up residence in Panama City seem to have decided to park in San Francisco. The most famous truck is Esa Flaca Rica, which almost always has a line of hungry folks eager to feast. Check it out for their signature burger. A few other grub trucks in San Francisco include Anti-Burger, Pig Backside, What Da Fork, and The Smoke Truck. Each food truck offers its own unique taste for foodies to explore.

Walk off all that food in Parque Omar

The biggest park in the city, Parque Omar offers a natural retreat for visitors of all ages, from children to elderly. The park is constantly featuring free events for the whole family, as well as exercise classes of all types, from yoga and pilates to Zumba. Many folks walk the park just to admire the greenery and catch a glimpse of the activities underway. Whatever the reason for visiting, Parque Omar is sure to please.

Visit the Metropolitan Natural Park

Panama City is the only metropolis to have a jungle within its city center, so why not hike through the many trails on offer in Metropolitan Natural Park? Explore the gorgeous scenery and get an exciting chance to see the exotic wildlife that calls Panama home along trails with names like Motmots, Mahoganies, Oak, Titi Monkey, and Small Swamp. The guides can help with which path is best based on your preferred level of difficulty.

Explore the City of Knowledge campus

The main campus of the City of Knowledge is a vast international complex for education, research, and innovation. The City of Knowledge promotes and facilitates synergy between universities, scientific research centers, businesses, and international organizations. The foundation is a private, non-profit organization established in 1995 that governs the campus of academia.

Spend an afternoon at Albrook Mall

Located in the neighboring community of Albrook, just next to Clayton, is the extraordinary shopping plaza known as Albrook Mall, which is connected to the always-busy Albrook Bus Terminal. Albrook Mall is the largest shopping center in Panama, and within it is a great bowling alley and arcade, as well as a cinema.

Walk, bike, or hike: Ancon Hill

At the foot of Clayton is Ancon Hill, which is a sight to see, whether you walk to the foot of it or hike to the top for a beautiful view of Panama City. Jogging and biking are common around Ancon Hill, as its gorgeous, tropical greenery of towering, age-old trees meets the luxurious, modern communities constructed throughout Clayton.
