Certainly one of the swankiest places to stay on the island, this palatial 1950s-era resort hotel has an impressive spa to match. Set over 4500 square metres, facilities include everything from a dynamic heated pool with bubble beds, whirlpool sections, and aqua-massage swan necks, to saunas, a foot spa, and a steam room. There’s even a flotation pool where you can experience zero gravity, and, of course, plenty of massage and beauty treatments available; it’s also an adults-only zone, so serenity is guaranteed.

As its name suggests, this flamboyant Thai-inspired hotel is set amid wonderful exotic gardens brimming with botanical specimens and other tropical flora, plus a carp pond and a resident black swan. Plus, its Oriental Spa Garden is considered one of the best in Europe, with innovative therapies that cover medical as well as relaxation and cosmetic treatments (which can be enjoyed alfresco). Facilities also include a large indoor pool, whirlpool tub, and spacious steam baths.

This adults-only luxury hotel is located in the popular Playa de Ingles resort on the south end of the island, and a short stroll from its sandy beach. One of its main draws is certainly its Siam Spa, with 11 treatment rooms offering a wide range of Thai and Balinese treatments including pedicures. Its secluded rooftop gardens are brimming with exotic flora and silk drapery, while a wellness centre offers spa facilities such as a therapy pool and hammam steam room.

Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa

Spa Hotel

With a prime position overlooking Fuerteventura’s Caleta de Fuste beach, this upscale resort hotel boasts access to the only thalassotherapy spa on the island, and one of the best in the country. Although a short walk from the hotel, the U-Spa – part of the Barcelo Thalasso Centre – offers an impressive range of facilities including indoor and outdoor saltwater pools with aqua-jets, bubble beds, and whirlpool sections, plus there’s sauna and steam rooms and five Oriental-themed treatment rooms. Music-lovers can even unwind in the rather original musicarium – one of the spa’s many relaxation zones.

This child-free boutique-style property is set in the quieter and unspoilt west of the island, albeit overlooking an 18-hole golf course. The look is traditional Canarian colonial, and the vibe is distinctively relaxing, with tiered terraces and exotic gardens providing plenty of spots for peaceful seclusion. The spa is surprisingly well equipped for a smaller hotel, with a long thermal circuit, sauna and steam rooms, foot-spa, and ice fountain, plus eight cabins offering a wide range of treatments.

The five-star Sheraton Salobre is one of the few spa hotels in Gran Canaria not on the beachfront. Instead, it sits high up in the rocky, volcanic mountains. Spread out across 11 levels, it seems to blend into the landscape and offers pools on almost every level, as well as a range of bars and restaurants. On the top level, a river runs around cacti plants and day beds, and in the Be Aloe Spa you can unwind with treatments and massages. The excellent spa also features therapeutic jets, swan-neck waterfalls and bubble beds, with views out across the hotel’s 18-hole golf course.

Hotel Hesperia Lanzarote Playa Dorada

Chain Hotel, Spa Hotel

Overlooking Lanzarote‘s south coast, this family-friendly resort hotel also boasts the area’s best spa facilities. Firstly, a heated semi-Olympic size pool allows for some proper laps, while afterwards you can soak in the poolside Jacuzzi. There’s also a sauna and steam room (separated by gender) and a wide range of beauty and massage treatments; the adults-only policy makes for a serene atmosphere. Outside, several more pools can be found (including one for kids), two of which are also heated.
