Few of us can resist the temptation to upload enviable holiday snaps on social media to annoy friends and family stuck back home in the drizzle. With the advent of the selfie stick combined with the unstoppable spread of Instagram, however, the phenomena of the Insta-boast has taken on a whole new dimension. Recent studies show that millennials now book their vacation based on ‘Instagrammability’ over most other factors, even price. So with this in mind, we’ve picked the most photogenic hotels in Mallorca guaranteed to provide that perfect #poolside #holidayphoto.

Innside Palma Bosque

Map View
Fresh from particularly swish and stylish makeover, the Innside Palma Bosque can certainly boast more aesthetically-pleasing interiors than most hotels on the island. But it’s the super-chic pool terrace where you’ll find the pretty young things perfecting their Instagram pose – be it from unicorn, flamingo, or emoji floaties – or taking a selfie with Fati, the almost-life-size poolside giraffe. But the Instagrammability doesn’t end there, with the hotel’s menu featuring some dishes perfect for snapping, in particular the ‘Hanging Prawns’ playfully pegged across a mini washing line.

Hospes Maricel & Spa Hotel

While there’s a very different vibe at the seriously upscale Hotel Hospes Maricel, it’s certainly no less Instagram-worthy. While set in a gorgeous centuries-old mansion, the hotel dates from the fifties when it attracted the international celebrity jet-set that even included the odd movie legend. And there’s still plenty of vintage-glam together with some gorgeous contemporary design to provide that picture-perfect backdrop. It’s the rooms with the private sea-view zen pools, however, that will really make for shots that are such enviable Insta-boast material they might just garner more ‘unfollows’ than ‘likes’.

One of the best known and most luxurious hotels on the island, the Belmond La Residencia also features a superlatively picturesque setting perfect for a #nofilter photo-post. Pretty lemon groves, two gorgeous outdoor pools, and private plunge pools make for superb backdrops, while art lovers can also take a selfie next to one of the numerous Joan Miró paintings scattered throughout the property.

From its fabulous battlement-topped entrance to its stunning sea-view terraces, there’s little about this 19th-century fortress that doesn’t merit a snap. Enclosed by ramparts and turrets, the Cap Rocat Hotel also makes for more interesting backdrops than most, and its west-facing cliff-top setting guarantees some spectacular sunsets. For a real treat, and Instagram gold, splash out for one of the Sentinal suites, hewn from the rock into a secluded enclave with private infinity-edge pools overlooking the water.

    ME Mallorca

If it’s more the Ibiza beach club vibe you’re after to spice up your Instagram feed, then the ME Mallorca is the place. Join the beautiful party-set sipping chilled fizz on canopied daybeds for that perfect Balearic-chic infused snapshot. It might be in Magaluf, but it’s certainly the swisher end away from the rowdy (and distinctly less photo-friendly) crowds plus there’s Nikki Beach club right next door for even more party-themed photo ops. The hotel even claims to have the island’s first ever Instagram-ready restaurant – Pez Playa – where diners are shown how to shoot their food for maximum Instagrammability (plus phone charging stations so you don’t run out of juice).

    Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel

Another seriously upscale cliff-top hotel but this time overlooking the picturesque bay of Port Soller with multiple vantage points for capturing swoon-worthy scenes. Some of the best vistas are from its gorgeous infinity-edge swimming pool (so careful not to drop your phone!) plus there’s a deluxe spa with clifftop hydrotherapy pool so you can post while being pampered.

    You'll find me here all week 💆🏼☀️#Workperks #jumeirahportsoller #mallorca #notmagaluf

    Purohotel Palma

For a more urban setting for your social media snaps, the Purohotel Palma is located amongst the meandering cobbled streets of the capital’s Old Town. The styling is ethnic-bohemian meets Scandi-chic providing aesthetically pleasing backdrops from practically every angle. But it’s the swish rooftop terrace where photos really shine, especially from the Bali bed perched above the city skyline with 360-panoramas that take in the cathedral, Bay of Palma, and distant Tramuntana mountain range. You can even order up a chilled bottle of Cava for that perfect photo prop.
