This Balearic island is known for its lively beach resorts, pretty bays and dramatic mountainscapes. But it’s also home to historic towns with curious cobbled backstreets to explore, and the nightlife of capital Palma. So whether you’re looking for a romantic, adults-only retreat, or a family-friendly beach escape, we’ve rounded up the best holiday apartments in Mallorca.
Located in the vibrant beach resort of Playa de Palma, these modern serviced apartments epitomise Mediterranean luxury and are ideal for family holidays. There are 11 spacious, two-bedroom apartments that can sleep up to six guests, each with a private terrace with panoramic sea views. The high-end Bulthaup-brand kitchens feature Smeg appliances and allow guests to prepare their own meals easily. Or if you’d prefer to eat out, there are three Pure Salt restaurants nearby: Mikel & Pintxo tapas bar, Restaurant Garonda and Restaurant L’A Trattoria Pizzeria, which serves a menu of Italian dishes such as tagliatelle with lobster. Fancy a dip? The white sand beach is just moments away, and there’s also a rooftop pool.
Set just 200m (656ft) from the alluring Blue Flag Cala Millor Beach, this complex of 60 one-bedroom apartments caters to short getaways and extended stays. The coastal chic interiors are all sophisticated neutrals, with splashes of colour in the upholstery and pretty patterned tiles in the kitchens and bathrooms. The salt-water outdoor pool has a daily lifeguard service, making it suitable for families travelling with children. Want to cook your own meals? There are numerous supermarkets and shops within easy walking distance. Or indulge in an Italian meal at Osteria Pane & Olio, which is just a four-minute walk away.
If you’re looking for a relaxed holiday away from Mallorca’s party destinations, head to Puerto Pollença, a small, family-friendly resort town in northern Mallorca. Hoposa Apartamentos offers 20 cosy self-catering apartments that sleep up to six guests, a large, salt-water swimming pool that extends into the ocean and a well-equipped gym. The seaside location has inspired the simple-yet-stylish interiors, with shades of green and blue creating a tranquil retreat. Guests can enjoy a daily buffet breakfast or order breakfast directly to the room, then rent bikes to explore the surrounding area.
The city of Manacor on the eastern tip of Mallorca is perhaps best known as the birthplace of tennis legend Rafael Nadal. But there’s plenty more to Mallorca’s second-largest city than producing international sporting heroes from the famous Caves of Drach to a 29km (18mi) Via Verde eco-path for runners, walkers, cyclists and horseback riders. Looking for an affordable option, Apartamentos Cala Murada Minigolf should be your go-to. Its apartments have fully equipped kitchenettes and access to a lush garden, a pool with sun loungers and, as the name suggests, a mini-golf course. Each studio apartment has a queen bed and a single sofa bed, as well as a furnished terrace.
This resort featuring an assortment of two-bedroom apartments is set on a sandy bay near Palma de Mallorca and has everything you need for a fun, family beach holiday. There are three outdoor swimming pools, an indoor pool and two kids clubs. Looking for somewhere to eat? The on-site restaurant Tentación serves up authentic regional specialties like Mallorcan seafood casserole followed by ensaimada (Spanish lard pastry) and Mallorcan almond ice-cream. For more relaxed vibes, check out the beach bistro Restaurant Sotavento and Bar Luna 81.
The mountaintop town of Capdepera in the northeast of Mallorca is known for its historic fortifications, and offers travellers a different perspective on the island. This two-bedroom apartment is just moments from the Blue Flag Playa de Canyamel. The spacious living area opens out to a large furnished terrace overlooking the communal pool and beach through lush palms. There are four single or two double beds alongside two bathrooms, making it ideal for families or groups of friends travelling together. Keen golfers will love the location as there are three golf courses nearby, including Canyamel Golf, an 18-hole course set against a mountainous backdrop.
Planning a diving or snorkelling holiday in Mallorca? These self-catering apartments – available as studio, one- and two-bedroom flats – are located in Cala Figuera, just 1.6km (1m) from Cala Santanyi Beach, which has a diving school and is known for its magical underwater landscapes. It’s also just 2.7km (1.7m) from the award-winning S’Amarador Beach, one of the prettiest beaches on the island. If you don’t fancy a trip to the beach, you can relax around the seasonal outdoor pool, do some laps in the indoor pool or lounge in the garden. There’s also a barbecue for al fresco dining.
Looking for an adults-only getaway in Mallorca? This rural estate is nestled among almond and carob trees just moments from the coast, and is located directly opposite the 18-hole Vall d’Or Golf course. Cyclists are also well catered for – the hotel rents out bicycles to explore the surrounding area, and there is secure bike storage. There are four different styles of apartment, from 37sqm (291sqft) one bedrooms to 66sqm (710sqft) deluxe duplex apartments, each with elegant timber furnishings and a private terrace. During the day, relax around one of the dreamy pools surrounded by Mediterranean gardens, or enjoy a meal at Vall d’Or Golf’s mÁxime Restaurant, where dishes such as the tuna burger with mango mayonnaise, or crispy lamb confit with lavender are on the menu.
Travel to the north of Mallorca and you’ll discover Pollença, a historic town with pretty, narrow streets for wandering and a large town square surrounded by cafés and restaurants. If you want to explore this part of the island and enjoy the privacy of your own residence and pool, book Villa Isabel. It’s just a few minutes’ drive from Puerto Pollensa and can sleep up to six guests in three bedrooms, making it the perfect getaway for families or groups of friends. The villa is surrounded by manicured lawns and palm trees, and there’s a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue for cooking up the local produce available from the nearby farmer’s market.
Visiting Mallorca with a large group of friends or family? Casa Can Blau villa has four bedrooms and can sleep up to eight guests. It’s a short drive from Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc, the salt flats in the northeast of the island, and equally close to the desert-inspired botanical gardens Botanicactus and the Ca ses Monges cultural centre. That said, you might not want to leave the villa – there’s a spacious living room with a rustic fireplace for cold evenings, a large swimming pool and a fully equipped kitchen.
