Marrakech, being the most popular tourist city in Morocco, caters for people of all dietary preferences. Whether through international cuisine or traditional Moroccan favourites, vegetarians and even vegans can be sure to find somewhere great to eat. Here’s some of the best vegetarian friendly places to eat.

Marrakech Spices

1. Earth Café

Cafe, Vegan, Vegetarian, Moroccan

Located down a side street just a short walk away from the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, Earth Café is Marrakech‘s only exclusively vegan and vegetarian café. The owner of Earth Café grows most of the ingredients on his farm just outside of the city, and guests can even arrange to visit this farm and participate in cooking classes. Guests can enjoy something to eat in the intimate atmosphere and colourful setting. With fresh and healthy dishes, this is a paradise not only for vegetarians, but for guests wanting an alternative Moroccan experience.

Chez Chegrouni

Although one of the favorite dishes at Chez Chegrouni is chicken tajine with preserved lemon and olives, there are also numerous vegetarian friendly dishes. From vegetable stews, to a seven vegetable couscous, and even simple dishes such as omelette, and of course, chips. This modest restaurant has a simple charm. The service and the décor may not be luxurious, but it is a friendly restaurant that invites guests to have an authentic Moroccan experience with fantastic food on either the roof or the ground floor terrace.

Another restaurant specialising in the vegetarian friendly Lebanese cuisine, it serves everything from traditional soups to tempting falafel. It may be slightly difficult to find, with a slightly mysterious air, but its vegetarian dishes are widely praised, so it is definitely worth the hunt.
