1. Kandi

As a classic and sophisticated bar in Las Cañitas’ main nightlife hub, Calle Báez, Kandi attracts a chic and upscale clientèle to enjoy its high-end atmosphere. The bar also serves food until late evening, which is when the bar really fills up. Happy hour is every weekday until midnight, and it pulls a good crowd despite being a pretty early time to go out by Argentinian standards. The interior is based around a 1960s retro theme, with brown leather sofas and retro patterned wall designs. A great spot to get a feel for the upmarket vibe of Las Cañitas’ main strip.

2. Van Koning

Van Koning is not the usual sleek and trendy bar found on Calle Báez. It is a Dutch microbrewery with a cozy atmosphere, which is quite a contrast from its fancy Báez neighbors. It has a wide range of international beers available, including some of its own brews made on site. There is outside seating, although the inside has a lovely atmosphere with candle light and dark wooden furnishings, typical to an old-fashioned pub. A great option for a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere, but still at the heart of the neighborhood.

3. Lupita

Bar, Restaurant, Pub Grub, Mexican, Beer

Lupita is a fun Mexican restaurant and bar offering food as well as a good number of delicious cocktails. Most of their drinks have an element of recognizably Mexican flavor, such as jalapeño vodka, lime juice, tabasco, and of course around 30 different varieties of tequila. The interior is modern and stylish, with a long bar with a wall of bottles behind it. A good choice for a lively evening at the center of the action on Calle Báez.

4. Soul Café

On lively Calle Báez is Soul Café, a 1970s style cafe with plenty of retro features- disco lights, sultry red lighting, and of course a classic 70s soundtrack. It serves food but the drinks and cocktails are the real highlight, with the calm and cool vibe attracting a more mature clientèle. A perfect bar to start the evening off before heading out to the clubs.

5. Kim y Novak

Bar, Gay Bar, Beer, Argentina

Kim y Novak is a popular gay bar, located just on the outskirts of the Las Cañitas area and closer to central Palermo. It is a sophisticated joint full of color and bright lights, with pricey but good quality cocktails. The clientèle is as mixed as it can be, with all kinds of crowd welcome to enjoy the drinks.
