Napa Valley is best known for its wineries – but there are also a host of wellness retreats and spa hotels that offer serious rest and relaxation in the heart of wine country. If you’re looking to unwind and get away from it all, check out our list of the best luxury spa hotels in this part of California, bookable on Culture Trip.

1. Bardessono

This family-run hotel and spa, in the heart of Yountville, takes mindfulness and relaxation to the next level. The rooms and suites are luxurious, and the landscaped grounds are enchanting, but it’s the B Spa that’s the real star of the show. The seasonal treatments are based around locally grown ingredients, including lavender and flower elixirs; go for a massage with shea butter-enriched chardonnay oil to evoke the spa’s location in wine country. Arrive 20 minutes early for your treatment to enjoy use of the infrared sauna.

2. Solage

The motto of this Napa Valley getaway is “Detox, retox, repeat” – and with good reason. The award-winning 20,000-sqft (1,860sqm) Spa Solage is inspired by the hot springs of Calistoga, and treatments include revitalizing mud and mineral water therapies. At the center of the spa, the Bathhouse features geothermal pools with temperatures ranging from icy cold to steaming hot. Following a relaxing treatment, why not indulge in a poolside wine tasting? Local wines can also be paired with local, seasonal food by the in-house chef.

3. Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort and Mineral Springs

Calistoga’s original wellness resort has been drawing guests to its healing mineral waters and muds since 1952. Nearly seven decades later and following a recent refurbishment, Dr. Wilkinson’s is still one of the premier destinations in Napa Valley for hot springs. The comfy rooms and cottages offer the perfect base for some serious relaxation in the spa – think four mineral-rich mud baths, eight mineral baths, three geothermal pools, falling-water treatments and CBD and aromatherapy experiences, all set in a beautiful spa garden with outdoor treatment rooms.
