Villa Eshta is a party animal’s dream. They are located in an area with an array of entertainment options such as clubs and bars, as well as shops and restaurants. Eshta is just two blocks from Ocean Park Beach, which is one of the nicest in the San Juan area and caters to tourists with vendors selling ice, Jell-O shots, empanadas, water, and the ever-important beer. For convenience, there is a 24-hour pharmacy across the street and fast food and pizza nearby. Eshta is Egyptian slang for “cool,” and Villa Eshta lives up to the name.

The best way to learn about a place is to immerse yourself in it, and Casa Santurce in the barrio of Alta del Cabro helps you to do just that. It is on the bus line to Old San Juan and is close to the Atlantic coast. Meals are available, and this is a super-social hostel with a relaxed neighborly atmosphere.

Located on Loiza, Conturce Hostel is in a burgeoning area of San Juan. It is within walking distance of the Ventana al Mar park, the Jaime Benitez Condado Lagoon National Park, and the Puerto Rico Art Museum, and is just a couple blocks from the beach.
