Alexanderplatz is a vibrant, bustling epicentre in Berlin. As one of the largest public squares, the area is alive with shops, cinemas, tourist attractions, restaurants and tonnes of nightlife. Visitors don’t have to wander far to find the right bar, no matter what the occasion. Here are the best bars in and around Alexanderplatz to get you started.

Knutschfleck Berlin

Looking for a cocktail and some live entertainment? Then Knutschfleck Berlin is the place to be. Located in the heart of Alexanderplatz, this fun-packed bar has karaoke parties, variety shows, burlesque workshops, DJs, live music and so much more. The bar also has a rather unique cocktail menu, offering a ‘cocktail stock exchange’, whereby the prices change based on the demand. Knutschfleck also serves up plenty of local beer, wine and snacks, with a plentiful bar-food menu featuring all the Berliner favourites. House of Weekend is a bar and club overlooking Alexanderplatz. The roof garden is the perfect summer hang-out, sporting views of the TV Tower, delicious cocktails and a cool, young crowd. You can hang out on the sun-lounges and watch the sunset over the city, then mosey over to the adjoining club to dance the night away, making it the perfect spot to start and end a wild night out in Alexanderplatz.

Volksbar is a cosy, quaint café-slash-bar located just a stone’s-throw from Alexanderplatz. In the summer, visitors can sip frozen daiquiris and enjoy the warmer weather at the bars large outside seating area. In the winter, this is a nice spot to cosy up with friends and enjoy funk, soul, relaxed electro or ’80s classics from local DJs. Either way, year-round this joint offers well-priced drinks and an inviting, local atmosphere.

Sip cocktails sky-high at Bar 203, located inside Berlin’s iconic TV Tower. Standing tall as Germany’s highest structure, the TV Tower promises sweeping city-views and a sleek interior, as the rotating sphere-bar takes guests on a journey around Berlin. While this bar definitely isn’t a local spot, it is a glamorous and stunning experience to indulge in when visiting the city.

Belushi’s bar is located just a short train ride or walk from Alexanderplatz. With an international, relaxed vibe, this gastropub serves up tasty pub grub, an ample range of German, British and even Australian beers and ciders, as well as well-priced long drinks and cocktails. This place truly comes to life at night and often hosts a well-rounded live music line-up during the weekends. Head here to hang out with a mix of young locals, expats and travellers.

Complimenting the laid-back vibe, the bar’s interior is wood-heavy, cosy and warm, boasting an unmissable downstairs shuffleboard area. Here guests are invited to play German-style shuffleboard, or watch as the pros battle for the champion title. Located close to Rosa-Luxemburg station, this joint is just one station over from Alexanderplatz, or 10 minutes walk from the square’s centre.
