Augsburg lures visitors with 2,000 years of history waiting to be uncovered. The city centre is studded with impressive buildings from the rococo and Renaissance periods, fantastic museums and unique things to do. If you’re planning a trip, check out our list of the best hotels in Augsburg.

1. Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren

Stellar reviews are a testimony to the high-class experience a stay at the Steigenberger Drei Mohren offers. The hotel is located directly on Augsburg’s grand main street Maximilianstraße and is only a stone’s throw from major attractions such as the Schaezlerpalais, the city hall or the Perlachturm tower. The interior holds an atmosphere of traditional elegance. The rooms and suites feature beautiful bathrooms, upholstered sofas and armchairs, a minibar and flats-creen TVs for your comfort. On top of that, the restaurant is known for serving regional specialities alongside excellent wines, and guests can use the spa and wellness facilities that include a gym, several saunas, and a list of beauty treatments that can be booked at the hotel.

2. Quality Hotel Augsburg

Located only a few kilometres from the city centre, the Quality Hotel offers an excellent value-for-money experience. All rooms come with satellite TV, air conditioning, free wifi and marble ensuite bathrooms. The restaurant starts the day with a sumptuous breakfast buffet, followed by lunch, tea time and dinner.

3. Best Hotel ZELLER

Double bed facing wall-mounted TV in red-and-white room with desk, cushioned chair and armchair at Best Hotel ZELLER

If you’re happy staying a bit further out of town, the Best Hotel Zeller in Königsbrunn is a good option. The location does have its upsides: the Königstherme wellness centre is only a 10-minute walk from here, and if you need to get to Augsburg’s city centre, a direct bus service takes you straight there. The hotel itself does have its own spa facilities, a cosy reading room and in-house restaurant which dishes up the best of European cuisine.

4. Ringhotel Alpenhof

Double bed facing TV in room with rug, armchair, desk, chair, wooden floor and floor-to-ceiling windows at Ringhotel Alpenhof

With a garden, two restaurants and an in-house conference centre, free wifi and a spa and wellness centre that features several saunas, a steam room and indoor pool, the Ringhotel Alpenhof offers more than most hotels in Augsburg for both leisure and business travellers. The family-run hotel offers a friendly and professional service. Even though the hotel is located a few kilometres north of the city centre, a tram station outside connects you quickly with all main sights. It’s worth coming back in time for dinner to try the regional specialities served at the Wilde 13 and Schnürschuh restaurants.

5. Il Gladiatore

Double bed on wooden frame in cream-painted room with radiator and ornate golden cornices at Il Gladiatore

This gem among the many hotels in Augsburg is found in the Oberhausen neighbourhood and scores highly with attentive staff, Venetian décor and outstanding Italian food. Extra points are awarded for the cosy basement wine bar and the beautiful terrace. The 19th-century villa only contains 12 rooms spread across two floors, although all come with wifi access and are equipped with ensuite bathrooms, a TV and minibar. If you want a bit of extra glitz request a room on the first floor – they’re more spacious and decorated with gilded Stucco ornaments.

6. Hotel Augsburger Hof

Several top-notch restaurants are within walking distance from here, which allows you to sample a variety of foods during your stay.

On top of that, guests can use the sauna and quiet room free of charge and enjoy a drink at the bar.
