When traveling to a foreign country, most tourists love to try out the indigenous food in that particular region. Puerto Rican food is incredibly tasty and there are many restaurants in Dorado to quell those hunger pangs. Here’s our list of the top 10.

1. Grappa

Grappa is a very quaint, cozy Italian restaurant and it is considered to be the best in Dorado. This place is renowned for its succulent Italian fare, such as caprese salads and seafood linguine pasta; other favorite dishes include the asparagus soup and the shrimp fra diablo. Only the freshest ingredients are used for meal preparations and this ensures the delicacies that Grappa is famous for are all made with top-quality ingredients.

2. El Ladrillo

This is a popular restaurant in Dorado. Authentic Don Quixote paintings adorn the walls, presenting a cultural and artistic venue for patrons. The menu is also extraordinary; diners can can savor the New York steak with plantains, which is cooked to perfection. Another excellent selection on the dinner menu is the paella which most diners enjoy. Their specialty dish, papas el ladrillo (mashed potatoes prepared with minced carrots), is also a highly recommended dish. Good local food coupled with a cozy ambience clearly ensures an enjoyable evening at El Ladrillo.

Descorche Restaurant

This restaurant’s intimate setting and live music encourages diners to relax in ambient surroundings. When dining at Descorche Restaurant, tapas are an excellent choice. The selection is quite varied and inexpensive; for example, diners can sample the shrimp with bacon covered in tamarind sauce or crab croquettes. The mains are quite tasty as well. One delicious entree in particular that is quite popular is the lamb chops in red wine.

This restaurant is truly a cultural experience in itself. On certain nights, patrons get an opportunity to be included in the entertainment after eating their sumptuous meals. You can learn to dance salsa or sing along in the karaoke sessions here. In regards to the menu, a favorite dish among regulars here is the grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon drizzled with coconut sauce. The starters are just as delicious. For instance, there are fish sticks as well as breadfruit pulled pork to satisfy your appetite. The seafood at La Terrazza is always fresh and guests can be assured of an appetizing meal here.

This placehas a casual yet cozy setting which exclusively offers only Puerto Rican cuisine. Each table offers comfortable seating for two people, making it an ideal restaurant for couples or dates. A personal touch to the dining experience is that the servers take the time to explain each dish as they are presented to diners. One specialty dish that stands out is the delicious tuna tataki with coconut jasmine rice. Tapas are also available on the menu for those who seek inexpensive options.

5. Encanto Beach Club Bar & Grill

This restaurant by the sea is an essential part of the Dorado resort and the setting is a casual one as it is located by the seaside. An excellent starter is the roasted beet salad with quinoa and goat cheese on the side. It’s also highly recommended to select the mahi mahi with a side of your choice. Patrons can be assured of a wide selection of wines and cocktails to help them unwind after a long day at work. Prices are not exorbitant even though the restaurant falls under the Ritz Carlton brand. The most expensive item on the dinner menu is the lobster tail.

This chic restaurant is also located in the Dorado Beach Resort. Its warm, inviting interior is well-enhanced by the polished wooden floors, brightly colored upholstery and matching throw cushions. In addition to this, outdoor seating is also available. It is run by well-known chef, José Andrés. The menu is wide and varied with plenty of chicken options and there are lots of tapas dishes to choose from; for example, there’s the croquettas de pollo (chicken fritters) which is a popular tapas dish on their menu. If you are more adventurous with your palate, choose the puntillitas a la andaluza (fried baby squid). If you would like to dine in style, choose the Mi Casa restaurant at this Ritz-Carlton property.

7. San Juan Café

The San Juan Café caters to people of all ages and it possesses a relaxing ambience due to the fact the decor consists of brightly colored furniture and state-of-the-art televisions. Generally, the tasty appetizers are served in large portions so patrons don’t even have to order entrees. One starter that is quite popular is the tempting plantain soup. This restaurant is a good choice for the entire family to indulge in a meal with very reasonable prices in a large, spacious restaurant.

8. L'Ami Du Bistro

This French restaurant is cozy and has an inviting ambiance. Diners are made to feel welcome from the moment they enter the restaurant. There is an in-house sommelier to assist you with wine pairings. One of the signature dishes here is the beef wellington, which is lovingly prepared for patrons. Naturally, as the bistro is French, wines are readily available. The prices of food and beverage items on the menu are very reasonable with the most expensive dish being the Angus beef.

Katrina Restaurant

Katrina Restaurant is located on the beach. Of course, there is outdoor seating as straw-covered umbrellas with barrel bases provide adequate shade for patrons. This casual setting allows customers to feel relaxed and uninhibited. It is not every day that you can have lunch and dig your toes into the sand simultaneously or enjoy delicious food on golden sands. This venue offers a fantastic seafood menu and the dishes are very filling as the portions are quite generous.
