With a year-round tropical climate and breathtaking beaches, Puerto Rico has all the ingredients for a perfect Caribbean vacation. Reap the benefits of a resort-style apartment on your next stay – with the independence of a kitchen to cook your own meals, alongside an on-site pool and concierge service – so you can experience this charming destination while feeling right at home.
After dropping your bags off at the Ciqala Luxury Suites in Miramar, head up to the Eter Rooftop for panoramic sunset views of San Juan, paired with a passionfruit daiquiri and tapas. Furry friends are welcome, and fully equipped kitchens make cooking easy, but take advantage of daily complimentary Puerto Rican coffee and made-to-order breakfast.
This intimate property has just nine guest rooms, as well as four suites with full kitchens, two of which boast balconies that overlook the streets of Old San Juan. Resembling a bed and breakfast, each room has been individually designed, creating a cozy atmosphere. Ask the front desk to book you onto a tour of the Bacardi rum distillery or an ocean catamaran adventure.
Always dreamed of living at the beach? Numero Uno Beach Apartments, to the east of San Juan in Ocean Park, offers one- and two-bedroom apartments just steps away from the ocean. The on-site San Juan Beach Restaurant offers everything from cheeseburgers to ceviche to cocktails, as well as local beers from Ocean Lab Brewing Co. With gear to rent and lessons taking place right outside, guests can try out kiteboarding at the school provided by Kite Puerto Rico.
With the personalized touch of a bed and breakfast, Tres Palmas Inn provides a beachfront stay including complimentary continental breakfast every morning and bikes for guests to use to ride around the Ocean Park Beach neighborhood. Suites are decorated with an eclectic coastal theme. Soak in a hot tub on the sundeck, take a dip in the courtyard pool or swing in one of the hammocks scattered throughout the property.
Named for the Puerto Rican frog coquí, this property close to Ocean Park is owned by a couple who coined it “the gayest guest house in the Caribbean,” reflecting its LGBT-friendly atmosphere. With a range of accommodation from studio units to entire annex villas for up to 37 people, this is certainly a party place. On site, you’ll find two pools and a jacuzzi, where clothing is considered optional.
If location is a top priority, Navona Studios in the heart of Old San Juan is a prime spot for people-watching from your private balcony and popping into the restaurants and bars below. Contactless check-in through a lockbox method makes arriving easy at these 13 adult-only, affordable rooms, each with tropical wallpaper accent walls and patterned flooring tiles.
In the residential area of Old San Juan, this colonial structure, dating back to the 1800s, is located on one of the oldest streets in the city. Inside, you’ll find 17ft (5m) ceilings with apartments ranging from split-level one-beds to larger apartments sleeping five. Equipped for long stays, amenities include washers and dryers, as well as complete kitchens, so guests can truly live like locals.
Set between Ocean Park and Condado, and just three blocks from the beach, the Posada Colonial Apartments are affordable and have an old-fashioned charm. In a Mediterranean-style building, one- and two-bedroom apartments come with full kitchens, conveniently located within walking distance to a supermarket. But you will want to dine out, too, as the neighborhood is close to the foodie destination Calle Loíza, where you can find everything from a Mexican taquería to a Korean barbecue joint.

Connect with like-minded people on our premium trips curated by local insiders and with care for the world
Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.
Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.
Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.
Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.
We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
