In recent years, the formerly commercial area of Thonglor has emerged as the trendiest neighbourhood in Bangkok. The quarter was initially known for its car dealerships and wedding showrooms. A state-of-the-art climbing facility, Urban Playground has more than 7,000sqft (650sqm) of climbing space, suitable for all levels, from beginners to experts. Seeking a thrill right away? First-timers can have a go under professional instruction in belaying, bouldering or in a full-blown Introduction to Climbing course. Experienced climbers can contact the staff for help finding a session partner. Climbing not your thing? Urban Playground is a part of the Racquet Club, which itself offers swimming, tennis, badminton, squash and racquetball, snooker and group exercise classes.

Built on a concept of community and like-mindedness, the COMMONS is a sanctuary amid the busy vibe of Thonglor. The open design is a true celebration of modern Thai architecture, dotted with cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops between full-grown trees under expansive ceilings. Nosh on international cuisine from food court kiosks imagined by top regional restaurateurs before heading to pick up a few necessities, like vintage clothes, flowers or freshly baked baguettes.
