Jebel Akhdar, which means the “Green Mountain” in English, is one of the most spectacular mountains located in the Al Hajar Mountains range in Al Dakhliya region. Although it is mostly rocky and covered with stones, the mountain is moist enough to support agriculture, and that’s how it got its name. The mountain is inhabited by Omani tribes called “Al Riyami”, who established their lives by building villages and farming and planting the mountain. In 2011, the mountain was designated a natural reserve for its unique biodiversity.
