One of the first things to strike travellers visiting Copenhagen is how stylish most locals are – many of them have all the characteristics fitting what you’d call ‘hipster’. If you’re wondering where all these fashionable locals hangout, this guide will help you find the coolest spots.

1. Jægersborggade

Jægersborggade is known as the most hipster street in Copenhagen and not without reason. The little alley with the colourful houses that now brim with tattoo studios, hip restaurants, galleries and stylish cafes was gentrified several years ago and now is one of the top choices for hipsters, fashionistas and stylish millennials who make sure to pass by during the day for an organic juice or snack and during the evening for an early drink.

2. NOHO

Bar, Restaurant, Cafe, European

Meatpacking district in Vestebro is a hipster hangout on its own but with so many restaurants and bars a guide always comes in handy. NOHO is the place to go from morning till night; high-quality coffee, ice-cold cocktails and premium snacks and meals are served at the fancy cafe all day long. With its offbeat and classy decoration, late hours parties, with some of the city’s best DJs as well as the coolest crowd, it is no surprise that NOHO occupies a place in Copenhagen’s most hipster hangouts list.

3. Bakken

Bar, Nightclub, American, Danish

Just a few metres away from NOHO stands Bakken, another hipster hangout in the heart of the Meatpacking district. Unlike NOHO, Bakken doesn’t have a fancy decoration or comfy couches but its industrial design decoration is part of its charm. Bakken gets packed with millennials who want to dance their heart out until the early morning hours.

4. California Kitchen

Restaurant, American, Danish, Vegetarian, Vegan

California Kitchen opened for the first time in Nørrebro, just a stone’s throw away from Dronning Louises Bro, two years ago and it instantly attracted the city’s hip foodies. Both the decoration and the menu’s healthy dishes bring a little something from California’s spirit in Denmark and locals loved the concept so much that a few days ago another California Kitchen restaurant opened in Vesterbro. The restaurant’s philosophy is to offer nutritious and tasty dishes made of organic ingredients at affordable prices; a fast-casual healthy lifestyle restaurant that aims to bring quality in Copenhagener’s dishes.

5. Urban Hostel

It offers special events such as yoga and a tattoo studio for those who want to get a real souvenir to always remember Copenhagen. Even if you’ve already booked your stay elsewhere, worry not because Urban hostel has its own bar where locals mingle with travellers and all together enjoy live music concerts and refreshing drinks.
