An island paradise is what many honeymooners dream of when they plan their post-nuptial vacation, and Morro de São Paulo is an enchanting place to spend a honeymoon. The beaches of azure waters and thick Atlantic rainforest make for a stunning backdrop. There’s also plenty to see and do in Morro de São Paulo, so here’s our guide to making the most of your honeymoon on the island.

1. Swoon-worthy accommodations

Hotel

If you’re in Brazil for your honeymoon, you should definitely book beachfront accommodations to fully enjoy the country’s amazing coastline and give yourself a chance for total relaxation after all the wedding stress. Thankfully Morro de São Paulo has some fantastic options with their beachfront pousadas. With ocean breezes, swaying palm trees and plenty of hammocks to enjoy there’s almost no reason to leave your hotel. A popular option for honeymooners is Hotel Vila dos Orixas which is consistently rated as the top lodging in Morro de São Paulo. The hotel is located at Praia do Encanto, or Enchantment Beach, and promises a relaxing stay whether you’re lounging by the pool or on the beach.

Indulge in a royal treatment

The only thing that could make staying in Morro de São Paulo more relaxing is enjoying a day of spa treatments. Tune out the rest of the world and focus solely on your relaxation with one of the massage treatments at Kairos Spa, located in Hotel Vila dos Orixas. Try their couples’ massage for an intimate experience, or the bamboo massage for total tension relief. Also ask about their yoga classes for more mind and body wellness.

Cruise the coastline

Long romantic walks on the beach are definitely in order on a honeymoon in Morro de São Paulo, but consider taking a cruise out on the water for a different view. There are several tour companies that offer different cruises, including day trips to other nearby locations like Ilha de Boipeba, another little paradise that offers a look back in time with its rustic village. Or take a more active outing with kayak or canoe rentals. Exploring the island’s coastline is great for quality time together and having a little sense of adventure.

Toast to your happiness

Morro de São Paulo is home to some chic bars that are begging for honeymooners to raise a glass. Celebrate your union with a toast at Toca do Morcego, which has great sunset views and a party that lasts well into the night. For a beachfront libation, head to Pimenta Rosa, the open-air restaurant attached to Pousada Vila das Pedras. If you’re feeling ambitious, bar hop around the beaches to find your favorite caipirinha.

Dine in style

Share the first of many meals together as a married couple in Morro de São Paulo’s top restaurants, which have great local Bahian cuisine as well as some international favorites like Italian. For a Mediterranean and Bahian menu mix, head to Sambass restaurant, located right on the beach. Their seafood dishes are elegantly prepared and, of course, delicious. For Latin-inspired cuisine head to Andina. The restaurant has a relaxed, tropical vibe and serves up fresh seafood like ceviche and sesame-crusted tuna. Enjoy a long, relaxed meal here with a bottle of wine, and don’t forget dessert.
