If there are two things that Alaska is best known for, it’s the gorgeous views and incredible seafood. We’ve compiled a list of the best places where you can go to get the freshest and most delicious seafood in Juneau.

Jerry’s Meats & Seafoods

For more than 25 years, Jerry’s Meats & Seafoods Inc. has been serving quality fresh seafood to Juneau and Southeast Alaska. Jerry’s Smoked King Salmon, Salmon Spread, and Crab Dip sell more than all others combined. On site, Jerry’s prepares their smoked salmon with a direct, slow-smoking method of cooking over pure alder wood chips. They add only a simple salt, sugar, and water brine to the finest quality fresh fish. They also sell incredible black cod and Reindeer sausage as well as smoked bacon, pork, and buffalo sticks. You can’t go wrong with any of their dips and spreads. If you aren’t local, you can even get many of their products shipped to you.

Tracy’s King Crab Shack

Open since 2006, Tracy’s King Crab Shack is the best place to go if you’re looking for fresh, sweet, and juicy Alaska King Crab legs. Thanks to its location on the pier where numerous cruise ships dock, the shack gets an enormous amount of business from tourists – and for good reason. The huge and delicious crab legs impress people who come in from all over America. If you’re stopping by the port anyways, you may as well experience Alaskan King Crab right in Alaska, where it’s at its freshest. Despite the long lines, Tracy’s always moves everyone along with great speed and efficiency. They also serve Dungeness and Snow crabs as well as Alaska sea scallops and spot prawns.

Taku Smokeries

Each year, Taku Fisheries purchases more than seven million pounds of fish from local Alaskan fishermen. They select the best quality fresh fish from the catch for their own smokehouse in Juneau, and pour the rest of it into domestic and foreign wholesale markets. People love to visit their shop in Juneau for the delicious hot and cold smoked fish, lox samples, King crab, and numerous other treats to eat or send home. Thanks to their close relationship with the local fishermen, Taku has gained a reputation for carrying the best caught fish in Alaska.

The Hangar on the Wharf

Since 1996, The Hangar on the Wharf has been a year-round favorite among locals. This is thanks to the wide selection of locally brewed Alaskan beers, fresh seafood, and the view of the seaplanes. The seaplane hangar where the restaurant is located was the home of Alaska Coastal Airlines in the 1940s. It was also used as the landing point for the Northern journeys of pilots like Will Rogers. With popular menu items such as the halibut, coconut prawns, salmon chowder, and rock fish, The Hangar on the Wharf is one place you don’t want to miss for a great experience, spectacular view and tasty seafood.
