Luis Antonio

Luis Antonio creates collections that “are modern and cosmopolitan, yet romantic and feminine,” per his website. The San Juan-born designer studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and then created his first ready-to-wear collection. Antonio also presented a collection at Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week 2015. Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres, and musicians Luis Fonsi, Marc Anthony, and Ivy Queen are among the celebrities who have worn his pieces. Lisa Thon

Born in San Juan, Lisa Thon went on to graduate from New York City’s Parsons School of Design. The CEO of a design school in San Juan called Centro Moda School of Design, she is making an impact on a new generation of designers. Carlos Alberto

Carlos Alberto is probably most known for designing pieces for beauty pageants, but also makes clothing for other occasions that can be seen on his Instagram account. In the past, the creator of eye-catching gowns that shine on stage, Alberto worked with famed Puerto Rican designer Carlota Alfaro before developing the status that he enjoys today as a designer.

Gustavo Arango

A Colombia-born designer, Gustavo Arango was raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Arango studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and worked for Pierre Balmain. His ready-to-wear clothing can be found at his store in The Mall of San Juan, which is one of many San Juan attractions. Sofia Arana

An up-and-coming designer, San Juan’s Sofia Arana has already shown pieces during New York Fashion Week, at the Nolcha Fashion Week 2015 event. Her luxury clothing has been sold at Puerto Rican boutiques before her show at the event, and Arana is opening a brick and mortar store called The Refined Way – you can stay up to date via her Instagram account.

Sulyvette Diaz

Sulyvette Diaz’s label was born in Old San Juan, and right now she designs ready-to-wear and couture clothing, in addition to accessories. Diaz is a former fashion merchandising student from the Miami International University of Art & Design, and a former fashion design student from Turabo University.
