The Best Cafes and Coffee Shops in Tequila, Mexico
While the picturesque colonial town of Tequila will always be best known as the birthplace of Mexico’s national drink, it is also a great place to stop and have a coffee. There are a number of welcoming, elegant coffee shops in the center of the town and we would highly recommend that visitors refuel at one of these excellent destinations.
K-Tul Coffee
Cafe, Mexican
Since opening in 2016, K-Tul Coffee has established a reputation for excellent service and delicious coffee. Located in a charming yet unassuming venue, the café serves excellent food, including great Mexican breakfasts and a range of salads. Especially tailored to a health-conscious clientele, K-Tul Coffee also offers detox teas such as Clean-B, a blend of green, black and red tea, yerba mate and citrus fruit juice. But if you are just after a cup of coffee, we would highly recommend sampling the house mix, a blend of beans from Chiapas and Veracruz.
Juliantina Coffee
Cafe, Mexican, Contemporary
A short walk from the central plaza, Juliantina Coffee is an elegant café that serves a range of coffee and a varied menu of Mexican dishes. Located in a spacious and tranquil venue, the Juliantina serves dishes such as shrimp in creamy chipotle sauce and salmon in apricot sauce. With fast, efficient and friendly service, this is an upscale café experience at accessible prices.
Cafeteria D'PRISs
Cafe, Mexican
This wonderful café and bistro is a great place for breakfast, offering delicious omelets and chilaquiles. The service at D’PRISs is efficient but slow. As the kitchen is small, waiting times are to be expected. Since opening in 2015, the establishment has garnered a reputation for first-rate coffee. We would highly recommend the espressos, which are full bodied and well-balanced. The ice-cold, creamy Frappé with chocolate drizzle is also an excellent option if you’re not on a diet.
Deleite Café
Cafe, Mexican
Coffee connoisseurs should also check out Deleite Café, which offers a variety of different beans and extraction methods. We would recommend ordering the French Press coffee. Set in a spacious venue that offers both an outdoor and indoor seating, this is a great place to relax after a hard day’s sightseeing and tequila sampling. The café also has a decent menu, with salad options, paninis and desserts.
El Palomar
Cafe, Mexican
Situated on the eastern side of the main plaza, El Palomar is one of the city’s most beloved meeting spots. The café boasts a menu filled with delicious regional cuisine and dessert options – we recommend the tequila chicken breast followed by an exquisite slice of cheesecake. El Palomar is also known for offering some of the best coffee in the city – expect to be delivered a richly flavored and aromatic cup.
