The wine list is also worth mentioning, as the venue has a sommelier who will help you choose the appropriate wine to accompany your lunch or dinner.
Fabbrica Drugetti is a favourite place among locals. The restaurant serves Italian and American cuisine. Therefore, you can enjoy the tastiest burgers and spaghetti in the city, as well as choose something from an array of snacks, soups, bruschetta, salads and pizza. Desserts are definitely the best items to try. At Fabbrica Drugetti, there are sorbets and ice cream, lemon tarts with whipped cream and cardamom, properly prepared tiramisu and brownies. Most importantly, the food is prepared only from natural farm products.
In the very heart of the ancient Uzhhorod, you will find Vertep restaurant. It serves traditional Ukrainian cuisine with the chef’s unique twist on Galician and Transcarpathian dishes. Thus, you can treat yourself to deruny (potato pancakes), the Hungarian soup bogrács (extremely popular all over Western Ukraine) and other local specialities. The restaurant’s interior will plunge you into the atmosphere of a Transcarpathian village: wooden tables, rushnyk (embroidered towels) and objects from rural life placed on the shelves.
The Old Continent restaurant is located on the ground floor of the eponymous hotel. It is a fashionable place with four rooms, an outdoor area and a bar. It offers European and Ukrainian cuisine with an emphasis on high-quality ingredients and high-end service. Meanwhile, the wine list perfectly complements the food menu. The restaurant is very spacious, thus it is a great venue for celebrations and banquets. It is especially pleasant spending evenings on the cosy summer terrace surrounded by exotic plants, a cascading waterfall and a fountain.
Veranda is an entire complex that consists of a pub, a restaurant, a café and a wine tasting room. It specializes in European cuisine and serves dishes drawn from Italian, French, Hungarian and Ukrainian cuisines. The main highlight of the restaurant is the open kitchen, where the meat dishes are cooked in a Josper (a combination of grill and oven). On the second floor of Veranda, you can marvel at the beautiful view of the city’s embankment and the Dnipro River.
Lychee Appetite Café is an elegant restaurant with a cosy courtyard and unusual interior. The cream-coloured rooms are decorated with crystal chandeliers and stucco mouldings. The menu includes traditional dishes of European and Italian cuisine. There’s also a wine cellar, where you’ll be offered a wide choice of exquisite Chilean, French and Italian wines. In addition, on Fridays and Saturdays the restaurant holds live music events, so you can watch saxophonists perform while you dine.
It is a widespread tradition among tourists to visit restaurants with a city view. Therefore, to see the ancient Uzhhorod from a bird’s eye view, book a table at Panorama. Locals come here to lunch and rest from work, while in the evening they come to the restaurant to have a fine dinner in the romantic atmosphere. Note, it is also a late-night venue. Thus, it is up to you when to enjoy the panorama of the city, equally beautiful both during the day and at night.
Kitchen is a gourmet boutique-restaurant, where you can try incredibly delicious food. Despite a relatively small menu, each dish here is a real culinary masterpiece. There are soups (which Ukrainians love so much), salads, fish and seafood, meat and poultry dishes, as well as a couple of vegetarian options on the menu. Hence, no one will go hungry or leave unsatisfied. The venue is also popular for its unusual interpretations of desserts. For instance, instead of a classic panna cotta, there’s a chamomile one, while the cheesecake is filled with hazelnut and mint cream.
EMIGRAND restobar is a venue with a surprising diversity of cuisines. Here you can try Israeli, American, Italian and, of course, Ukrainian dishes. Be sure to try restaurant’s signature double burger with grilled vegetables and French fries. The building has five rooms, decorated in different styles and opened for different purposes. So, you can come to EMIGRAND restobar for lunch or dinner, a celebration, breakfast and brunch, workshops and music events or even parties.
