Switzerland is home to some of the world’s most spectacular ski resorts and there’s no better place to learn or improve your skills. If you are planning a ski holiday but aren’t sure which school to pick, check out our list below.

1. Altitude Verbier

School

If you are heading to Verbier and the four valleys, Altitude Verbier comes well recommended. This school offers a wide range of classes (both private and group) for all levels and styles, including snowboarding and an off-piste challenge if you are already confident in your skills. Lessons are predominantly in English, however some of their instructors speak several other languages.

2. Schweizer Skischule (Saas Fee)

School

The Schweizer Skischule in Saas Fee follows the Swiss Ski League’s level system (Blue, Red, Black and Academy) and offers courses for everyone from absolute beginners to budding Olympians. You can take part in group lessons or book a private lesson with one of their 90 plus instructors. Find out more here.

3. PassionSki (St Moritz)

School

As their tagline goes, PassionSki is all about loving snow, and this shows. No matter what your goal is (learning the basics, cracking freestyling or just tweaking your style) PassionSki can help you get there. They don’t just stop at the slopes either, they offer alternative ways to explore the Engadin region like snow shoe walking and rock climbing. Of the many ski schools in the trendy resort of St. Moritz, PassionSki is one of the most dynamic.

Absolute Powder sets you up with your own personal instructor and the focus is on private tuition, so you can mould the lesson to your own desires and level. Whatever your experience or interest, you’ll find an instructor here who can help you reach the next stage, and quickly.

Swiss French Academy

If you’re wanting to brush up on your French while learning the ins and outs of skiing, why not roll both into one? The Swiss French Academy offers intensive French language courses and ski lessons the slopes of Crans-Montana in the canton of Valais which has over 140 kilometres of pistes. In between your language classes you’ll take to the slopes to unwind and learn the craft of skiing or snowboarding. At the end of the week you’ll come away with two new skills. Classes are available for beginners, intermediates and advanced learners.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
