With stunning landscapes and gorgeous sea views aplenty, it’s easy to find a romantic spot on Mallorca. But with so many places to eat on the island, how to choose where to go in order to continue the mood into the evening? From Michelin-starred restaurants to rustic seafood shacks, sexy rooftop sushi bars and sunset view terraces, we’ve picked a selection of the best restaurants on the island to help you enjoy a romantic date.

Jardín

Macarena de Castro was the first female chef on the island to be awarded a Michelin star, for her interpretations of Mallorquin classics at restaurant Jardín. A different tasting menu is served every month, with diners presented with an intriguing shopping list of seasonal products as the only indication of what they will be eating. Beautifully presented and creatively flavoured meats and fish form the foundation of the menu, using fresh local produce and interesting cuts. Open only from April to October, Jardín is a welcome contrast to the many tourist-trap restaurants in the surrounding area, and the pretty garden is perfect for romantic dining.

Sadrassana

Owned by the contemporary Horrach Moyà Gallery, Sadrassana is a feast for the eyes as well as the belly. It occupies a 19th-century, typically Mallorcan manor house in the city’s Old Town, with lush traditional interiors that are often used in TV and film (including BBC drama The Night Manager). But it’s the food that takes centre stage, with inventive Balearic-inspired dishes that are quite simply sublime – the suckling pig and rack of lamb are two must-tries.

Sushi Bar at Hotel Sant Francesc Singular

Set atop the award-winning five-star boutique Hotel Sant Francesc Singular is an impressive al fresco terrace where both guests and residents nibble on sushi while taking in the surrounding city panorama. There may not be grand mountains or sweeping sea views, but visitors can peer over the scenic surrounding rooftops and neighbouring medieval church, and out to Palma’s majestic sandstone cathedral. While it’s not everyone’s idea of a romantic night, if you’re after a sexy, city-slick location accompanied by a topnotch selection of Japanese delicacies from the sushi bar, it hits the nail right on the head. You can also take the romance a step further by spending the night in one of the hotel’s stunning rooms.

Es Fum

Housed in the five-star St Regis Mardavall Hotel, Es Fum was first awarded a Michelin star in 2011, and chef José Miguel Navarro has continued his culinary wizardry to cling on to it ever since. There are no à la carte options, only an impressive tasting menu or a six-course seasonal menu, with innovative combinations of textures and flavours created using locally sourced produce. The Bloody Mary Oyster on the tasting menu is particularly outstanding, and the wine list is fantastic. Serving only dinner, the restaurant’s terrace overlooking the hotel’s lush gardens and out to sea is the perfect spot for a romantic sunset date.

Las Terrazas del Bendinat

Situated in a rather exclusive part of Palma bay, the restaurant in this boutique hotel is simply gorgeous. Tables are scattered amongst the landscaped terraces outside under the cool shade of pine trees and canvas sails, with views across the water and the rocky beach nearby. Sample refreshing Andalusian gazpacho or langoustine salad to start, followed with suckling pig and caramelised apples, and strudel or crème brûlée to finish. It’s the perfect place for an intimate dinner for two.

Ca’s Patro March

Perched on the rocks to one side of the stunning Cala Deia, Ca’s Patro March is the place to go to enjoy fresh grilled fish with a glass of crisp, cold, white wine in hand and the sea breeze in your hair. Forget fancy restaurants and fine dining, sometimes all the romance you need is a beautiful setting with sea views and fantastic food. Also famously featured in the BBC production The Night Manager, this seafood restaurant is fabulously rustic, serving simple but tasty food with an emphasis on the catch of the day. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the clear waters of the cove, followed by a blissfully long lunch for two on the edge of the idyllic terrace. If you can get them to answer their phone, it’s best to book ahead as this place is extremely popular.

Il Paradiso

Il Paradiso, perched on a hill above Cala Mayor with spectacular views out to sea, is the place to go all year round for great Italian cuisine in an elegant setting. Diners can enjoy a romantic sunset meal on the terrace in the warmer months, while in winter, the opulent oval-shaped dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows is equally impressive. The traditional Italian cuisine is very good and the wine list extensive, but the draw of this place is really the setting and the relaxed atmosphere.
