Iceland’s otherworldly landscapes are must-see, but can be a nightmare to tackle if you’re the one doing the planning. Well, that’s where Culture Trip steps in.

Booking a vacation package can be the best way to experience a destination. Forget hours shopping around, booking activities and public transport, as well as accommodation. There’s no need to feel like your group’s volunteer tour guide as you haphazardly navigate a place you’ve never been and an itinerary you’re unsure about.

At Culture Trip we’ve carefully curated a catalogue of authentic small-group adventures that take the stress of organisation firmly out of your hands. Unlike most package holidays, our tours are designed to immerse you in a destination, showing you the real communities of a place. We show you the natural beauty spots other tour providers don’t even know about, and our Local Insiders are not only armed with a lifetime of cultural insights, but also top tips on the best food joints, sunset viewing points and morning coffee spots.

Iceland is a particularly good example of a destination that suits booking through a good tour provider. While package deals are often reserved for beach resorts in southern Europe, many visitors naively book a trip to the Land of Fire and Ice without knowing how to get around.

Nobody who comes here wants to stay in Reykjavik the whole time. The whole point is to get out there and explore the vast icy landscape but, with the travel boom that’s occurred here in the last decade, the tourist scene is littered with overpriced, overcrowded and quite frankly sub-par day tours – especially when it comes to famous sights like the Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle.

Following an itinerary crafted by experts allows you to experience more of Iceland in less of the time, and a great local guide is genuinely priceless here, whether it’s for guidance on how many socks to wear, or to lead the way across frozen glaciers and under thundering waterfalls.

Volcanic Iceland

Whisper it quietly, but we think our Travel Experts have put together the ultimate five-day Iceland adventure tour.

We’ll meet up in Reykjavik and get together for a traditional three-course dinner, where you can sample local delicacies like Arctic char and Icelandic beef. It’s the fuel you’ll need for our first full day, which sees us exploring the lesser-trodden Borgarfjörður region. You’ll witness the might of the Barnafoss and Hraunfossar waterfalls, before soaking off at Krauma Natural Geothermal Baths, derived from Europe’s most powerful hot spring.

The next day starts with a must-do on any trip to Iceland – the Golden Circle. This incredible stretch of countryside is famous world over, and its headline acts are Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Thingvellir National Park. You won’t be piled into a stuffy old bus with hundreds of other tourists, though, as our tour is completely private. We’ll stop off at Geothermal Bakery Fontana for some uniquely baked rye bread, before embarking on a truly once-in-a-lifetime activity. You’ll hop onto your own snowmobile and whiz across the endless white expanse of an icy glacier – now that’s one to tell the grandkids.

Gullfoss Waterfall, part of the famous Golden Circle, is one of Iceland’s most spectacular sights

Our final full days sees you head south to watch the thundering Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, and the surreal black sand beach of Reynisfjara. We’ll follow that up the a rewarding three-hour hike across the frozen glacial tongue of Sólheimajökull, capped off with a hearty shot of whisky and a hot drink.

Before it’s time to part ways on day five, you’ll be whisked over to the Blue Lagoon for a thoroughly well-deserved soak in the famous mineral-rich, milky blue waters – the perfect spot for one last group selfie.

Flights are not included in the price – although our friendly customer service team can help you find the best deals – but your booking does include two nights boutique hotel accommodation and two nights at a family-owned country hotel, daily breakfasts and dinners, as well as all mentioned activities and local private transport. Not to mention our Local Insider, who will constantly be on hand to ensure you have the ultimate Icelandic adventure.

Check out the full itinerary and book your spot today.

The best way to end any trip to Iceland is in the warm embrace of the Blue Lagoon
