Combining a play space for the little ones and relaxing surroundings for their fatigued parents to enjoy some coffee, Kindercafés are downright genius in concept. However, not all Kindercafés are created equally. We’ve got you covered with this list of the best in Berlin.

Café Schönhausen

Café Schönhausen in Pankow is a cheerful little place that serves colorful meals in kid-friendly ways. The waffles paired with a scoop of ice cream are particularly popular amongst the Kinder and their caretakers, too. There is also a small shop in the café selling small decorations and toys in vintage-inspired styles. Like many Kindercafés, Café Schönhausen also has a play area featuring a slide and a small ball pit. The mint green interior is homey, with lots of things arranged on shelves that span across the walls. Plus, there is a spacious terrace out front.

Amitola

Located in the family-friendly Boxi Kiez in Friedrichshain, Amitola is a popular spot. The interior is pretty spacious, featuring walls with nature-themed decals, wood floors, and lime green accents. With such a solid fanbase, Amitola has gone beyond merely serving coffee and cake to tired mommies while their children play. On the weekends, for instance, this Kindercafé holds children’s theatre and creative workshops, and it is possible to host a birthday party here. Next door is the Amitola store, where ceramics, children’s clothing, and some secondhand goods are sold. A family could easily make a day out of a trip to Amitola.

Kindercafé Milchbart

While most Kindercafés have some playthings available for the kids, Kindercafé Milchbart takes things to a new level. From baby dolls in prams, a climbing area, and a large garden, to toy trucks, a play kitchen and a sandbox, the possibilities for play here are quite amazing.

The owners of Café Kreuzzwerg were inspired to open a Kindercafé after starting their own family. Indeed, it is clear from the moment one steps inside Café Kreuzzwerk that it is an establishment run by a family for families. The café offers the perfect balance between a stimulating play space filled with all kinds of different toys and relaxing atmosphere for the adults.

Café Ballon

Cafe, German, $$$
One of Berlin’s most well known Kindercafés is Café Ballon. Decorated with colorful balloons and bright red accents, its super fun and kid-friendly. Not to mention, each child receives a balloon to take home after a visit here. Other attractions for the kiddos include the two-story jungle gym, a ball pit, a slide, and plenty of toys. Meals are simple and prepared daily with menu items including pastas, sandwiches and salads.

Kindercafé Wunderland

Cafe, German
With the word ‘wonderland’ in its name, it’s no surprise that this Kindercafé is so appealing. Kindercafé Wunderland features an extensive indoor playground, and it is host to a number of special events from christenings to birthdays, and more. Expect the staff to go all out with the decorations and costuming for your child’s birthday party, making it an experience he or she won’t soon forget.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel – and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Epic Trips, Mini Trips and Sailing Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travellers and friends who want to explore the world together.

Epic Trips are deeply immersive 8 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and enough down time to really relax and soak it all in. Our Mini Trips are small and mighty - they squeeze all the excitement and authenticity of our longer Epic Trips into a manageable 3-5 day window. Our Sailing Trips invite you to spend a week experiencing the best of the sea and land in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm – and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
