Delightful and bright, this petite patisserie-cafe is an altar for the multi-colored Parisian macaroon, a specific French dessert that is beloved throughout Europe. The philosophy of Makrönchen Manufaktur is to create the finest small cakes by producing over 20 types and flavors. The venture started in 2011, in Berlin’s various street food fairs, followed by a cafe the following year. Bright shades of green, pink and purple on the walls do well to match the sweet macaroons, while a curious royal touch adds a certain panache and style to the place. The menu is diverse, containing delicious scone variations, sandwiches and coffee, all in the French style of slow eating.

An Italian restaurant with an authentic rustic atmosphere, Café Aroma has been a neighborhood staple since 1987, situated right in the heart of the ‘Rote Insel’ in Schoneberg. Meaning ‘Red Island’, this area was once a socialist stronghold that played host to the communist underground during the 19th and 20th centuries. Café Aroma’s philosophy brings a splash of color to these historical surroundings, through cuisine, friendly meetings and wine drinking sessions outdoors.What’s more, the menu contains mouth-watering treats like tagliatelle pirate, noodles with salmon and shrimps with lobster crème souse, perfectly crafted grilled beef entrecote with pesto and vegetables, and classic zingara pizza, too.

The Sixties Diner

Offering a classic American experience, this diner proudly touts red couch décor punctuated with the faces of famous celebrities of the 60s, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and an original jukebox loaded with classic tunes. The breakfast at the Sixties Diner is as classic as the Beatles too, going from fluffy pancakes with maple syrup, to scrambled eggs or onion rings and omelets. Various American breakfast types make the offer more tempting, like the farmer’s bacon and cheese omelet, sided by salad and butter, or the over-flowing Texas dish, with fries, roasted beef, eggs, salad and butter.

The breakfast for two is as generous as a Dostoyevsky novel and has playful literary monikers like ‘Hansel and Gretel’ to match. Guests can indulge in a generous plate of salmon, eggs, avocado, olives, cheese and vegetables, four different types of bread, juice and coffee, not to mention deserts layered with foamy chocolate mousse that is just irresistible.

Located in the Bavarian district and hosting some of the most delicious German cuisine, Robbengatter is well-primed for every palate when it comes to late breakfasts. Seasonal ingredients underpin the menu, while international influences add color to the mix of breakfast options. Here guests can indulge in Italian, American, gourmet or the famous ‘constructer’s breakfast’. The special Robbengatter breakfast comes with chicken breast fillet in almond shell with a curry dip, camembert with cranberries, spicy meatballs with barbecue sauce, herb-infused scrambled eggs with bacon, Edam cheese, fresh fruit and sausage salad, jam, honey, bread and butter. Just delicious.

Rich and delicious Café Maibach plays with breakfast variations until 3pm, and Sundays see the arrival of the smorgasbord brunch buffet. Located between Nollendorfplatz and Winterfeldtplatz, the café and restaurant has marvellous combinations of ingredients gathered in options like the Norwegian breakfast, complete with the ubiquitous salmon and honey sauce, crab cocktail, caviar and toast. There are also omelets and scrambled eggs for more traditional eaters.

Miss Honeypenny

Colorful and vivid, Miss Honeypenny is one cheerful place to start the day with friendly staff and slow food. The breakfast menu specializes in French, English and Italian types, and the quality is one of the best in Berlin. Check out the cheese spread, which contains melting cheese variations, tomatoes, mozzarella, cream cheese, brie, jam and bread, while the British breakfast offers baked beans in tomato sauce, sausages, fried eggs, bacon, marmalade and toast. Simply spectacular.

S Café

A modern restaurant located in a classy, 19th century German bungalow, S Cafe dazzles with its breakfast offer and Sunday buffet. Located on the main S1 Metro line, the building this one’s housed in used to function as a train station, but now boasts outdoor areas and real architectural charm. Breakfast brings variety of offers, all with fresh ingredients, omelets sided with mango cream, delicious ciabatta with bacon and avocado and various types of cheese, the list goes on.
