Reaching the beach of Æbelø island isn’t an easy task. But then again, the most spectacular landscapes are hidden in the most remote corners. Æbelø is an uninhabited island on the top of Funen where instead of houses and restaurants you’ll find a vast forest and sandy coasts. Those who want to live the unique experience of sunbathing or horse riding on a deserted beach have to hike for around an hour through the sea or sail when the tide is high. Since 1998, the island has been designated as a conservation area, which means that the island’s flora and fauna have evolved without human intervention.
