If there was ever a place put on this earth to inspire romance, it must be Barbados. The simply stunning views of blue sky, aquamarine seas and lush green hills put you back in touch with nature. Guaranteed sunsets, white sandy beaches and easy-going island life conspire to create romantic moments. Culture Trip explores the most romantic spots in Barbados.

Beaches

Bottom Bay

This is one of those picture-perfect Caribbean beaches that romantic couples dream of walking along hand-in-hand. Hidden away on the south-east coast, the soft white sand is surrounded by coral cliffs and fringed by tall swaying palms. This is the place to take a blanket and picnic basket and just spend the day together.

Sandy Lane

Sandy Lane beach is the other type of romantic beach we all imagine enjoying. Situated on the west coast, the calm Caribbean sea washes ashore onto gently sloping white sand. The sunset is unbeatable from here. Pick up a drink and stroll along the beach to find your perfect spot—this view never fails to inspire romance.

Activities

Sunset Catamaran Cruise

Enjoy a romantic end to the day aboard one the catamaran cruise operators based in Bridgetown. Get collected from your hotel, and enjoy swimming with turtles and fish in the crystal clear waters before cruising the coast as the sun sets over the Caribbean sea. Afterwards, enjoy dinner and drinks before returning to shore.

Snorkeling at Carlisle Bay

The bay actually lies within the UNESCO world heritage site on the edge of Bridgetown, the island’s capital. There are a number of shipwrecks in the bay, which can be reached from the shore by good swimmers, otherwise, there are a number of small local boats that will take you out there. Snorkels are perfectly adequate as the water is clear and shallow—although scuba diving is also available at the same location. Enjoy the wrecks and the marine wildlife together, and take an underwater camera to capture the moment.
