Aalia Ahmed's Articles: Insights, Tips, and Expertise

Growing up in Kenya sparked Aalia Ahmed’s fascination with literary and artistic representations of nature. As part of her studies Aalia lived in Florence for five months where she took up Art History and Italian Language courses. While living in Florence she travelled extensively around Italy to sample the diversity of responses that writers and artists from the Italian Renaissance had to their physical surroundings, which were manifested in the literature, paintings, sculpture, and architecture of the time. Shortly after, she completed an MA in English Literary Studies at Durham University where her research focused on the Anglo-Italian rapport between the canonical writers of Victorian England and Italian Renaissance literature and art. She decided to continue with her studies at Durham University, embarking on a PhD in English. Her research explores the multiple personalities represented in the works of the Victorian poet and literary critic John Addington Symonds.
