WHY BOOK A TRIP TO THE USA

The Big Apple and City of Angels are worthy of the hype – but you don’t truly know what treasures the United States has to offer until you’ve explored the heartlands from sea to shining sea.

No two states are the same: the Martian red rocks of the Utah canyons and the ethereal white sands of Florida’s Gulf Coast might as well exist on two separate planes of reality. And yet, anyone with wanderlust can discover this rich diversity of geography, culture, and community in a single day’s drive. The serene Hudson Valley is within two hours of bustling Times Square, though a single yoga pose could make one feel worlds away.

Envision a glorious getaway where you don’t need to choose between seeing just one of the top landmarks in California – such as Yosemite National Park, San Francisco and the vineyards of Sonoma. Then there’s the fusion of cultures and cuisines of deepest New Orleans, the wide-open roads of Texas, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and luscious forests of New England. The bucket-list is endless when traveling Stateside.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What’s the best time of year to visit the United States?

With a country as big and diverse as the US, there’s no real bad time to visit – each season brings different opportunities to each region. To escape the crowds at tourist hotspots, shoulder season (March to May and September to October) offers a more pleasant experience.

  2. What’s the climate like in the US?

The United States is a huge country covering a vast geographic area, with an extremely varied climate based on region. You’ll find cool, rainy weather in the Northwest, dry and arid desert temperatures in the Southwest, hot and humid weather in the South, and snowy winter weather across the Midwest and northern states.

  3. What is the time difference in the USA?

There are four main time zones in the US: Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5); Central Standard Time (UTC-6); Mountain Standard Time (UTC-7); and Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8). Additionally, there is also Alaska Standard Time (UTC-9); and Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (UTC-10). So, for example, if it’s 10pm in New York City, it’ll be 9pm in Louisiana, 8pm in Colorado, and 7pm in California. Alaska will be 6pm and, finally, it’ll be 5pm in Hawaii.

  4. Major Airports in the US:

    • John F. Kennedy International (JFK), New York City
    • Los Angeles International (LAX)
    • Miami International Airport (MIA)
    • Denver International Airport (DEN)
    • Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Las Vegas
    • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
    • O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Chicago
    • Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
    • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
    • Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
  5. Which states should you visit in America?

    • New York – a trip to NYC should be on everyone’s bucket list
    • California – the City of Angels, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Coast, Yosemite… need we say more?
    • Utah – home to five national parks for unbelievable outdoor scenery
    • Colorado – hike around the Rockies or hit the slopes before hanging in hipster Boulder
    • Hawaii – an island paradise with volcanic landscapes and white sand beaches
  6. What are the top American dishes to try?

    • Philly cheesesteak – Philadelphia’s answer to the hotdog is a long hoagie roll stuffed with griddle-cooked steak, cheese (and “wit’ onions” if you prefer)
    • Gumbo – a rich, meaty soup, usually consisting of shrimp, chicken and sausage, originating in Louisiana
    • Texas BBQ – North Carolina, Tennessee and Kansas may have some argument, but for our money Texas does the best low and slow BBQ
    • San Francisco clam chowder – you can find this hearty, creamy seafood soup on both coasts, but San Fran’s, served in a bowl of sourdough bread, is our favourite
    • Chicago-style Pizza – there’s a reason they call them “pies” in these parts: the crusts are an inch deep, the cheese is underneath the sauce and they’re cooked in a cast iron pan
