Bangkok’s obsession with all things electronic shows no signs of abating. From maze-like mega-malls stocking every item you could possibly imagine, to specialty stores sourcing the most desired brands and high-quality merchandise, there’s a shop for every taste and every style of shopper.

Housed in a trendy open-space venue, this brand new lifestyle concept store aims to “blend the best in technology with the goal of increasing people’s happiness under a Thai lifestyle”, according to the store’s founders. The décor, modelled by a notable local designer, is enviable even among Bangkok’s hippest standards. Shoppers can browse all the latest gizmos and gadgets, from virtual reality technology to an integrated entertainment content centre, between coffee breaks in the shop’s roomy workspace.

Lauded as a firm designed for gamers, by gamers, this California-based technology company launched a hotly-anticipated “experience” store that is more than just showcasing its high-end hardware. Shoppers can test out the latest Razer products, and play games for free with other gamers. Mini tournaments are also regularly organised, or just book a free session in advance to play with your friends between browsing the iconic Razer Blade Laptops or ergonomic Basilisk gaming mouse.

Munkong Gadget

Looking for products that are more customised? Gamers flock to this boutique shop to have the staff help them build made-to-order CPUs, complete with the latest high-end technology to hit the shelves. The skilled employees help hunters navigate options for RAM, monitors, motherboards, and more, while a healthy stock of accessories will bring the final product to that next level. True to the store’s modern philosophy, you can even just order online by sending them your specifications, and your brand new computer will arrive straight to your door.

While the mega-malls offer stall after stall of camera equipment, AV Camera is widely regarded as the most reputable store for photography lovers. Having been a Bangkok establishment for more than 50 years, they offer quality service with a highly knowledgeable staff, plus very competitive prices for a very wide range of top international brands.

6. Pantip Plaza

A long-time local mecca for all-things-tech, Pantip Plaza was recently renovated to update its look and services. What hasn’t changed is the sheer volume of bargain-priced electronics and the number of technophiles hunting for them. In recent years, the mall has gained notoriety for selling a number of counterfeit and pirated items, which locals expertly spot – so beware that if the price is too low to be true, it’s probably for a reason. But if you have a thick skin for the hawker-style selling tactics, you’ll be rewarded in kind. There’s also a great co-working space and café on the fourth floor called Syn Hub by Synergy Technology to rest both your feet and bargaining skills.

8. Ban Mo

Market, Store

If you need odds and ends for your electronics, Ban Mo is a local market famous for its near-endless supply of electronic tools. As you make your way through the labyrinth of stalls, vendors are busy repairing TV consoles and computer screens while technophiles are investigating parts for heavy-duty audio equipment. Even if you’re not in the market for parts, you can spend hours rummaging through walkie-talkies and phone accessories – or just take in the chaotic order of it all.

9. MBK Center

This iconic Bangkok mega-mall is a one-stop shop for literally everything you could need, from clothing to jewellery to appliances, and of course, two levels entirely dedicated to electronics. The fourth and fifth floors are home to big brand name shops like Nikon or iStudio, while assorted stalls are packed with gadgets and accessories of all kinds. Expect quick and professional turnaround for products that need servicing as well, but do be aware that MBK is still notorious for hidden knock-offs among the spoils.
