From its high mountains to the deep valleys, from beautiful beaches to the rich seas, and from delicious date palms to the fragrant famous frankincense, every corner in Oman offers much for its citizens and visitors to explore. For magnificent attractions and hidden gems, here is why Oman is a popular destination for all adventure seekers.

For Hikers and Climbers

Oman is a home for mountains. Omanis have dug roads in them, built villages on top of them and even planted them. Within these mountains there are wadis, farms, deserts, and sand dunes, all of which offer adventurers various activities to enjoy their time to the maximum. Visitors can go sand-boarding, rock-climbing or hiking. The most famous mountains in Oman are Jebel Shams (Mountain of Sun) and Jebel Al Akhdar (The Green Mountain), which are a part of Al Hajar Mountains in northern Oman.

For Divers and Snorkelers

Oman has a 3,156 km (1,967 miles) long coastline as it is surrounded by two gulfs; the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, from the north and the Arabian Sea from the east and the south. This gives Oman lots of marvelous beaches and plenty of sea treasures to be explored. Some of the best diving and snorkeling spots in the country can be found in Salalah in Dhofar region in southern Oman, and in Masirah Island in eastern Oman.

For Camping Lovers

Valleys and deserts cover around 82% of Oman’s land, giving it a great space for camping. What’s special about Omani deserts, beside golden sands, are its residents. Omani bedouins, like all Omanis, are very generous and welcoming. So, camping in a bedouin tent, enjoying Omani kahwa (coffee), fresh dates, traditionally grilled lamb, and watching the shiny stars, might be the perfect dream for all camping lovers.

For Racers

That’s why Arabs care for and raise them well and compete to own the best of them. Oman is no exception and it is famous for organizing regular races for both horses and camels. Omanis have even built special tracks and set schedules for these races. So, here for all of who share the love of these unique animals, the excitement, the adrenaline rush and the love of races, Oman is your must-go destination.
