Yerevan offers a wide choice of dining venues – you can choose from upscale, glamorous, or everyday eateries when it comes to finding the perfect dinner. However, if you are traveling on a budget and you’d like to check out some of the best cheap bites in town, this is the perfect list for you.

Zhinglyanov Hats

Bistro, European

Don’t expect a wide variety of dishes here. In fact, the only dish they have is zhingyal, a lavash wrap flavored with herbs and rich in flavor that is perfect for a light meal during the summer months. It’s a must-try and must-visit place if you are in Yerevan. Moreover, you can ask them to pack the wraps to go and take them to the park to enjoy a nice picnic.

Mer Taghe

Restaurant, Turkish

Mer Taghe is a quintessential place to try Armenian dishes, especially if you enjoy meat and pizza. Their specialty is lahmajun – or Armenian pizza as locals and foreigners call it – but you can try other delicious dishes as well. When trying lahmajun, be generous with the lemon, as it adds a great deal of flavor and taste to the dish.

At Gayane's

Restaurant, European

At Gayane’s is another place to try tasty local cuisine at affordable prices. Come here to try dolma and khashlama. Tucked away behind buildings and located in a residential house, the venue has a very warm and friendly atmosphere where you will feel like a special guest, making it a hidden gem in the city. Gayane, the hostess, also lives here, so you’ll be treated like a guest in an Armenian family, and she will take her time to explain the menu and tell the story of how the restaurant came to be. Therefore, if you are looking for an authentic experience, be sure to check this place out.

Adzoukh

Restaurant, European

Your trip to Yerevan is not complete if you don’t visit Adzoukh. The atmosphere here is very friendly, and the food is finger-licking delicious. It serves one of the best barbecue sandwich wraps in town, in which the meat is tender and juicy. However, vegetarians can also enjoy a grilled vegetable sandwich. And just like At Gayane’s, this is a hidden gem in Yerevan you don’t want to miss.

Tun Lahmajo

Restaurant, European

Tun Lahmajo is another place where you can try Armenian pizza – lahmajun – along with other delicacies of the local cuisine. With reasonably priced meals, the place can get quite busy, but it’s worth the wait.

Zatar Pizza

Restaurant, European

Zatar Pizza is famous for its low prices and good food. Come here to try hummus, various za’atar dishes, falafels, and lahmajun with different toppings. All those dishes are around 500 Armenian drams (US$1). The place is a good stop for a light but filling lunch while exploring Republic Square. Run by Armenians from Syria, they make their meals so delicious that you might want to visit it twice.

Room5

Restaurant, European, Mexican

If you’d like to take a break from all those local dishes, come to Room5 to eat American, Mexican, and international cuisine for a change of pace. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious, and the tacos are heavenly. And if you are feeling a bit adventurous in your meal choice, try their twist on Mexican pizza, you might be surprised!
