It’s easy to find decent restaurants in Yaoundé, but some have built a solid reputation serving local and international dishes. Boukarou Lounge

This mini village in the middle of town comes complete with trees, handcrafted furniture, chirping birds and one of the most exciting menus in Cameroon. Food is cooked in an open kitchen, with pizza and bread baked on the spot. They serve tasty salads and beef dishes, while international acts regularly join their live band.

Istanbul Turkish Restaurant

Istanbul is the place to go for kebabs, shawarma and pizza. They draw in many expats from Bastos and have a following across Yaoundé. You can eat at the restaurant or grab a meal to take home.

Etok Koss Yaoundé

Hilton Hotel’s Le Safoutier has a wide variety of fresh food and desserts, and excellent service. Their buffet is a mixture of African, French and European delights, they serve delicious coffee and a good supply of fresh fruits is always ready on demand. The restaurant is decorated with a wide collection of African art and has a lovely view of Hilton Hotel’s garden.

La Pizzeria

La Pizzeria is an Italian restaurant in Yaoundé that makes delicious pizzas, pasta dishes and bruschetta, while it also serves a top-notch cappuccino. It caters to a growing multicultural clientele that enjoys the interaction opportunities La Pizzeria has to offer. They’re one of the best Italian restaurants in Cameroon.

La Marmite du Boulevard

This airy restaurant at the Hilton Shopping Complex is found along Yaoundé’s 20 May Boulevard. They have a buffet with African and foreign dishes and it’s a good place to relax and enjoy the city after visiting some of the attractions nearby.

Chez Wou

Established in 1988, this family-owned Chinese restaurant is the oldest in Cameroon. Chez Wou has diversified its menu and business to include local dishes, catering, buffets on Sundays and a dedicated menu for kids, who have space to play in the back.

Cosy Pool

Cosy Pool delivers what the name suggests: a cosy, intimate location, with tables around a small garden pool you can walk across. The setting is deliberately romantic and the French menu comes with a decent selection of wines and cocktails.

Bois d’Ebene

Bois d’Ebene is an experience in itself: quality live music accompanies local dishes in a vibrant atmosphere that will crown your weekend. Here you’ll find grilled fish and shrimps, saucy beef with miondo and fried plantains, and whole meals like ndolé, eru and gombo. If the food makes you want to sing, you can join the live band.
