Peru has some of the best ecotourism options available in South America. Due to the country’s unique landscape – the Andes mountains, Amazon, beach and deserts – Peru’s ecolodges come in all shapes and sizes, each microclimate dictating the type of ecolodge experience you will have. No matter where you stay, it is sure to be unique. Here are some of Peru’s most unforgettable ecolodges.

1. Eco Quechua Lodge

Almost everywhere in this lodge will guarantee beautiful views – be it mountains, a river or the jungle. Probably the most attractive characteristic of the lodge is its proximity to Machu Picchu, only an hour away. “Superior rooms” include a private bathroom, heated shower, private terrace, bathrobes and a safe. They offer trips to Machu Picchu, the Scared Valley, bird tours and a visit to hot springs.

2. Maniti Eco-Lodge

Maniti Eco-lodge is located in Iquitos, Peru, a city in the northern part of the Amazon. Its carefully designed to offer comfort to travelers while also preserving the surrounding rainforest. The private bungalows are constructed entirely of secondary growth rainforest materials that blend in with the landscape of the jungle, so much so that you just might miss it! The lodge has a resolutely rustic vibe – there’s no internet, limited electricity (from 6-9pm) and no air conditioning – but you don’t head to the middle of the Amazon jungle for those amenities, you do it for the experience and the escape. One of the best things about the the Maniti lodge are the extensive tours and trips that they offer throughout the Amazon.

3. EcoAmazonia Lodge

EcoAmazonia Lodge is located in the jungle two hours from Puerto Maldonado via the Madre de Dios River. Due to the lodge’s remote location, you’ll get a chance to experience the spectacular biodiversity of the area. If you have the urge to explore the jungle, they have plenty of tours available that offer visitors glimpses of rare Amazon animals. When you aren’t exploring the wonders of the Amazon, you can take a dip in their indoor pool or relax in their collection of hammocks that overlook the river.

5. Eco-Fundo La Caprichosa

Lodge, Eco-Lodge

Located in the hills of Mancora, La Caprichosa offers visitors an exclusive, relaxing experience while also being close enough to Mancora to be able to go out and party at night. The eco-lodge offers visitors a little bit of everything, giving adrenaline junkies a chance to try four zip-lines with a total of 1600 meters of line, a rope circuit of six different routes (trapezes, bridges, cables and networks) on poles at a height of 10 meters and a rock climbing wall. With Mancora and the beach only a short ride away and plenty of adrenaline-spiking fun on the property, this eco-lodge is sure to entertain.

6. Casa Colibri Eco-lodge

Lodge, Eco-Lodge

Casa Colibri, located in the Sacred Valley, wants to stay as true to Andean philosophy and tradition as possible. “Humankind was seen as an integral part of nature, and the behavior of human beings was seen as governed by ‘natural laws’, based upon respect for all living things and their environment,” says their website, referring to Incan philosophy, which they aim to replicate in the design of their eco-lodge. With their attractive adobe built houses and lush gardens, the property reflects a deep respect and appreciation for nature that every guest will enjoy.

7. Apu EcoLodge

Apu has different accommodation options from private rooms for you and your partner to shared rooms for larger groups. The common area consists of a shared garden, terrace and lounge, a children’s playground and barbecue facilities. The food might be the highlight of the experience with everything at the restaurant being grown in their very own garden. The atmosphere is very friendly with ducks, dogs, chickens and rabbits all hanging out together.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
