When you have a trip as epic as our Authentic Colombia adventure you end up covering a lot of ground. Local Insiders Linda and Angelica are the ideal guides for this incredible itinerary that takes you from bustling Bogota to the Andes. Here are some of the highlights from the trip as the pair join Stefano for a chat about all things Colombia.

Stef – as we all call him at Culture Trip – is currently based in South America. As part of our international company and flexible work ethic, Stef was able to catch up with Linda and Angelica from neighbouring Brazil. With a shared passion of their continent, we join them as they explore some of the highlights from our 8-day trip to Authentic Colombia.

“One of the things that makes Colombia so special is that it is a mixture of different lands,” Angelica tells us. “We are in the corner of South America so we share the Andean culture with places like Bolivia and Ecuador, but we also have the Caribbean lifestyle of Panama and Costa Rica. Then you also have the Amazon, which we share with Brazil and Peru, so we have a real cool mix here.”

In many ways, it feels like Colombia is the whole continent in one country. “Culturally and geographically we are very diverse,” Linda adds. “The mountains, weather and land change all the time. We don’t really have seasons here so if you want the summer sun you just have to drive an hour from Bogota.”

As Stef says, you just have to pick the season you want and drive towards it!

Some of the highlights picked out by Linda and Angelica are:

Exploring cosmopolitan Bogota
Rafting down the Río Negro
Taste the best coffee in the world in the Zona Cafetera
Hike in the picturesque Cocora Valley
Try the Colombian sport of tejo
Strolling through a Medellín neighborhood once influenced by Pablo Escobar

You’re in safe hands with Linda and Angelica and the itinerary they have put together is aimed at giving you the local experience in just 8 days. Have a watch of their fantastic interview and start planning your trip to Colombia this year.
