With an increasing number of remote and freelance workers around the world, Rio de Janeiro has seen a steady climb in the number of co-working spaces throughout the city. Co-working spaces are shared working environments that bring together workers from different industries and are great to avoid home distractions and for networking opportunities. Here, we round up some of the best co-working spaces in Rio.

EDX Co-Working

Based in the historical area in downtown, EDX Co-Working is strategically located near Santos Dumont airport, the main hub for domestic flights. The office has space for up to 14 people, a meeting room for up to 12 people and a training room with a 14-people capacity. There is also free water and coffee in addition to a kitchen to prepare lunch. Laptops and other equipment can be safely stored there and the WiFi connection is strong. My Office

Located in commercial district Barra da Tijuca, which is also home to beautiful beaches and huge shopping malls, My Office is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and accomodates almost 40 people. There are also meeting and training rooms available, too. This is a great place to network and suits those with unusual working hours, especially if you need to work during through early morning hours. Prices start at R$226 for 20 hours a month.

We Company

We Company is a large space inside the downtown shopping mall in Barra da Tijuca. The offices are open on workdays (Monday to Friday) from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and include meeting rooms that can be hired out on an hourly basis. The office is spacious, modern and attracts a mix of Brazilian and international freelancers providing a stimulating environment with great networking opportunities. Prices start from R$90 a day and monthly rates with determined hours are available.

Set in a colonial mansion, co-working spaces don’t get more creative and inspiring than this one, especially when you consider the noteworthy features such as the swimming pool, kitchen and gardens that are open for use among all who use the space. Collective is located in Gavea and the quickest way to get there is either by bus or taxi. Fast internet speed and spacious working environments are part of the appeal on the practical side. Prices start from R$900 per month.

Space Coworking

Based in Botafogo, Space Coworking is a cozy, creative space that has ten rooms in addition to a larger meeting room. There are flexible options for solo workers and for teams of up to 15 people, giving a variety of choices to suit differing needs. The coworking space is close to bus transport links and the metro, making it an accessible spot to reach. Prices start from R$1963 a month.

Tribo Coworking

Perhaps one of the most popular coworking spaces in Rio, Tribo has a lot to offer. Its ideal location of one block away from Copacabana beach is highly appealing as are its reasonable prices and good facilities. There are 23 hot desks and rooms for workshops, lectures and courses that are open from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Prices start from R$235 per month.

Doca

Doca is one of the biggest coworking spaces in Rio with 76 fixed workstations, 24 flexible workstations and nine private rooms. Large tables and spacious working areas are a notable key feature, as is the location; you’ll find this co-work just a couple of blocks from Ipanema and Copacabana beach. Even better, there are areas to safely leave laptops and equipment if you want to pop out for a bit and head to the beach for a break. Prices start from R$700 a month.
