A trip to Bariloche will certainly involve hiking and, at some point, probably some rain. The Patagonian weather is unpredictable, and if you happen to be there in the midst of a downpour, you will quickly realise that your outdoor options are limited. So, hitting the spa is one of the best ways to while away a day of inclement weather. We pull together a list of Bariloche’s best spas to treat yourself in.

2. Alma del Lago

One of the region’s most well known hotels, Alma del Lago, meaning “Soul of the Lake”, is perched aside the lake and gives stunning views through its expansive glazing in the reception and swimming pool area out over the vast body of water beyond. Lounge in the pool while the weather plays out its theatre on the foggy horizon, and indulge in a massage or some spa treatments before you go for a light lunch in the bistro upstairs.

4. Nido del Condor

Hotel

Overlooking the Nahuel Huapi lake, Nido del Condor offers guests all the warmth and comfort of a mountain cabin but with the services and convenience of a hotel. Their state of the art spa facilities include an indoor/outdoor pool, Scottish showers, Turkish baths and Finnish saunas. Relax in the comfortable pool area and take in the breathtaking scenery of the lake and mountains across the swimming pool.

5. Spa del Cerro

Ski Resort, Spa, Cathedral

Located in Bariloche’s famous ski resort, Cerro Catedral, Spa del Cerro is the perfect antidote to a long day on the slopes, and has five rooms where guests can avail of the fitness centre, massages, bodyworks and skin peels. The wellness centre also has two hydropools and Finnish saunas with views out towards the rest of the ski resort.

6. Charming Luxury Lodge

Boutique Hotel

Another one of Bariloche’s famous hotels, Charming Luxury Lodge and Private Spa is a truly tranquil experience, and will dust away all the cobwebs and revive those aching muscles that are worn from days of trekking up Patagonia’s mountains to the many miradors you will find in the area. Charming’s niche is the fact that it has a “spa in every suite”, with each guest room benefiting from a jacuzzi and sauna, so you don’t have to worry about sharing your spa time with strangers. There are also a range of reiki and massage treatments on offer to soothe your body and mind.

7. Patagonia Vista Lodge

Hotel

This mountain lodge is pure Patagonia. Patagonia Vista is a more intimate option for those who don’t want to stay in a big hotel, but are looking for some seclusion away from the main drag of Bariloche. Something of a house-come-hotel, Patagonia Vista’s spa also features and indoor/outdoor pool that is sited in a pretty garden around which Bariloche’s mountains loom large, creating that feeling of home away from home, if home was in one of the most picturesque places in the world.
