Cru Bar & Cellar

Cru Bar & Cellar has stellar feng shui, with an open-air bar that flows into large tables. Most loved for it’s atmosphere and delectable modern Australian cuisine, the James Street icon is also a fantastic place to host a function. The extensive drinks menu may have you wanting to swing from the beautiful chandeliers that decorate the ceiling.

Harvey’s Bar & Bistro

Harvey’s Bar & Bistro’s all-day dining screams understated elegance, with the menu offering very imaginative twists on classic real food. The warm atmosphere at Harvey’s is very welcoming and the portion sizes are perfect, although save room from the scrumptious dessert menu. If you’re feeling low on funds, breakfast here is the perfect option to treat yourself without breaking the bank.

Gerard’s Bistro

A new kid on the New Farm block has received an overwhelmingly positive response from Brisbane foodies. The sophisticated setting offers a little bit of everything, from succulent seafood to juicy steaks, and fresh vegetable dishes to wow the pants off everyone from vegans to carnivores. It’s the perfect place to gather a big group of friends and order tapas to share, but is also very appropriate for a romantic dinner for two. Gerard’s Bistro is the best of both worlds.

At Sixes And Seven

At Sixes & Sevens is another newcomer to the New Farm precinct, and you’ll find it in a little old Queenslander house that has been transformed into a funky bar and restaurant. On Saturday nights there are people bursting out all sides of the bar, making it look like an out of control house party, whilst on the inside tastebuds are being pleasured and great wine is being enjoyed. If you’re after a more casual option without sacrificing good food, Sixes & Sevens is your best bet.

The Balfour Kitchen

The Balfour Kitchen, housed in Spicer’s Balfour Hotel offers a stunning, spacious deck for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The licensed venue has a ‘bring your own’ night on Monday where you can save on the dosh and spend up on good food to compliment your wine. Beautiful food and a lovely setting makes for a dinner to be remembered.

Gertie’s Bar & Lounge

A more relaxed dining option in an otherwise high-end dining precinct, Gertie’s is perfect for starting off a rowdy night with a couple of good drinks. Tuesday steak night is a definite crowd pleaser, and there’s always a good vibe at the popular jaunt.

Cirque Café

This split-level cafe is bustling at breakfast time, but service is still top notch with friendly staff hurrying to take your order. The brioche French toast and the breakfast pide are the pick of the broad variety of options on the menu.
