So 'Avolattes' Are a Thing Now, And This is Where You Can Get Yours

Australia and the hipsters have taken food trends to the next level. Literally.

It’s fair to say avocado is having a moment. And a long one at that. It’s been a trend in trend world for the best part of, well, forever – there are even restaurants in New York and Amsterdam dedicated to the super green fruit. Some food and drink trends however go too far, and this latte of absolute irony is no exception.

One day, the coffee whizzes at Truman Cafe in Melbourne decided to take the mick and roast some beans in an avocado skin. Eventually, they posted the little creation on their Instagram page, and voila, people went crazy, the avolatte was born, and it now has a permanent place on their menu.

So what is it? As the name suggests, it’s literally a latte served in the skin of an avocado.
All they do is hollow out an avocado skin and the baristas blitz the shell with a good helpin’ of joe. And yes, the coffee/milk art is included too.

On their creation, one of the baristas told Australia’s news.com.au. service: ‘I think it’s ridiculous. It’s literally coffee in a piece of rubbish.’ Our mouths are sealed.
Despite oodles of attention, the hybrid latte has not caused quite the stir the internet was hoping for, but it’s admirably earned a spot on this year’s coveted ‘the world must be stopped’ list.
Thoughts?
Sick of avocado? This restaurant has banned avocado from its menu and a cookie dough pop-up is coming to London.
