Over 10 days this June, the hippest cats in jazz will take their smouldering rhythms and slinky saxophones to venues throughout the city for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Since 1998, Melbourne has hosted international and local artists including some of the greatest contemporary masters. Bennett’s Lane, Uptown Jazz Café, Dizzy’s Jazz Club and The Forum are among the venues holding concerts this year. There will also be free shows, family events, club sessions, and close encounters with jazz musicians. We recommend seeing the phenomenal, Grammy Award winner Esperanza Spalding who will make her Australian premier with her new project Emily’s D+Evolution.
