Sydney is home to some of the greatest restaurants in Australia and locals are spoiled for choice. It even has its very own Chinatown, so Chinese restaurants aren’t hard to come by – however great ones can be. To make that job easier, we’ve compiled a list of some of the city’s best.

China Doll

Restaurant, Chinese

A far cry from your run-of-the-mill suburban Chinese restaurant, China Doll is all about fine dining. Situated on the historical Woolloomooloo Wharf, China Doll has some of the best views in the city stretching across Sydney Harbour. It is a great place to celebrate a special occasion with friends, thanks to their delicious banquet options, which include everything from shu mai with chili to wok-fried Alaskan crab.

Mr. Wong

Bar, Diner, Restaurant, Dessert

Mr. Wong is an uber-trendy restaurant located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. The modern interiors pay homage to tradition, with barbecue ducks hanging in the cabinets, bamboo French-woven chairs and colonial touches. The menu has a modern twist of crowd favourites, including peking duck pancakes, sweet and sticky pork ribs, and dumplings served by the platter.

Golden Century

Restaurant, Seafood

Golden Century Seafood Restaurant has become a Sydney institution. For years this Chinatown establishment has been serving some of the best Chinese food in the city. They do incredible yum cha from 12-3PM each day, serving up everything from wontons, dumplings and barbecue pork buns.

Eaton Chinese Restaurant

Restaurant, Chinese

This suburban eatery doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside you’ll find plenty of great food and good cheer. They have incredible options for live seafood you can inspect before eating, as well as sizzling hotpots of meat, and plenty of noodle dishes too. If you happen to be hungry late at night, you can eat here until the wee hours of the morning.

Happy Chef

Restaurant, Chinese, Seafood

Happy Chef Noodle Restaurant is an unassuming little vendor tucked away in a food court off Sussex Street in Haymarket. If you love soup and want to trade in your normal breakfast of toast and cereal, Happy Chef is the place for you. Their coconut-infused seafood laksa is one of the best in the city, which means this little place is always buzzing.
