Located just 15 miles from Utah’s Capitol, Sandy is a large suburb with a hearty food scene of its own, home to a variety of cultures bringing fresh flavors and unexpected dishes to restaurant goers. We explore 10 of the best restaurants in the area.

Tiburon

Housed in a building that was once a fruit stand, Tiburon has turned its formerly humble setting into an upscale and romantic dining experience, with soft lighting and elegant furnishings making the dining room feel intimate and warm. The menu at Tiburon is contemporary American, with an emphasis on meat dishes – serving everything from crab cakes and seared scallops, to lamb and elk tenderloin.

Fratelli

This restaurant is run by Italian two brothers, who have created a small slice of Italy far from the old country. Pizzas, pastas, and classic Italian entrees are prepared fresh and in-house. Customer favorites include the gnocchi gorgonzola, the spicy tagliatelle arrabiata, and the veal marsala. One of their most popular desserts is simply named “The Cake”: a pistachio cake layered with lemon mousse, raspberries, butter cream, marzipan and a lemon glaze. The atmosphere in Fratellis is welcoming and friendly, with photos of the brothers’ Italian nonna adorning the walls. A visit to this restaurant will make you feel as if you were part of the family.

La Caille

La Caille is an experience above and beyond expectations. The restaurant serves fine French food with precise execution but the real draw is its setting. The owners have created a picturesque and expansive venue that embodies a magical and idealized image of a French estate. 20 acres of grounds are perfectly manicured with stunning flowers and foliage, and a large pond is home to graceful swans. The interior of the restaurant is richly decorated with imported furnishings and warm colors. A meal on the patio, overlooking the stunning estate, would be a dream-like way to celebrate any special occasion. La Caille is the place to go for an elegant meal and unparalleled scenery.

La Costa

La Costa is a vibrant taste of Mexico, offering an expansive menu of traditional fare such as tacos, flautas, and carne asada, while seafood dishes offer customers something unexpected. Shrimp is served in a variety of ways, including wrapped in bacon and jack cheese, or simmered in picante sauce. With large portions, a lively atmosphere, and budget-friendly prices, La Costa has quickly become a favorite in Sandy.

Tin Roof Grill

Tin Roof Grill is well-known among locals. The atmosphere at this restaurant is laid-back but they’re serious about good food. The menu at Tin Roof offers mostly American diner favorites, such as sandwiches, pizzas, and pastas. A tapas menu gives customers the opportunity to try small plates that can easily be shared with friends. The most talked about dish is the croquette tapas: made with Canadian bacon, potato, and a spicy tomato sauce. With a beer list completely from local breweries, Tin Roof firmly holds its standing in the local restaurant scene.

Britton’s

In an atmosphere that is unassuming and warm, Britton’s serves traditional American food. The service is friendly, and staff are eager to make each guest feel comfortable. Britton’s dinner menu offers classic dishes like meatloaf and country fried steak, while the extremely-popular breakfast menu is served all day. Alongside breakfast standards such as eggs, omelets, and bacon, customers can enjoy playful dishes such as the ‘Red Neck Wrap’: meat, cheese, eggs, and country gravy, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. The serving sizes are generous, ensuring no one will leave Britton’s hungry.

The restaurant has received multiple awards for dishes such as curry, noodles, and grilled meats are seasoned and cooked to perfection. Fan favorites include the chicken satay, pad panang, and pad thai. Don’t leave without trying the mango sticky rice: this dish of sweet white rice, topped with freshly sliced mango, is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Salt City Burger Co.

Salt City Burger Co. is proud of hamburgers, and believes that burgers are “the greatest culinary gift to mankind.” They serve hamburgers made from high-quality beef, cooked to perfection on a char-broiler. Customers can then take their burger to the burger chalet: a buffet of toppings to cater to every taste and whim. The sides, such as the Idaho Russet french fries, onion rings, and cheese fries, are also very popular.

India House

India House offers the unique flavors of northern India to Sandy residents. The chefs make fresh yogurt and cheese daily, and spices are ground by hand to provide the perfect seasoning for each dish. Curries, Masalas, and kormas are all expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. For lunchtime guests, a varied buffet is served.

Los Garcia

Offering authentic Mexican fare, Los Garcia uses family recipes, and love for its home cuisine keeps customers coming back. Traditional dishes such as enchiladas, chimichangas and tamales are excellent, and familiar to most Americans. Unique seafood options set this restaurant apart from others, such as its ceviche, sautéed shrimp in spicy red sauce, or the mojarra entera – a whole fried fish served simply with a tomato and avocado salad. Los Garcia is a wonderful taste of the Mexico in the heart of suburbia.
