San Antonio is a city rich in culture and history – read our guide on how to spend a weekend in this colorful Texas town.

Friday Night

If the weather permits, plan on spending Friday evening walking the grounds and enjoying the atmosphere of the Pearl Brewery. The historical brewery is now a gem of a neighborhood featuring restaurants, shops, a gorgeous hotel, apartments, and river access. Eat dinner at La Gloria right off the river. Some evenings they showcase live music, and you just might spot a few chickens roaming around as well. Try any of the margaritas and tacos. After dinner, head down the pathway along the river where you’ll eventually run into some surprise art pieces.

Saturday Daytime

Start your Saturday off with brunch at Feast. There’s nowhere else in town quite like this fabulous restaurant. The décor is chic and modern, and the service is superb. The best part, of course, is the food, with inventive dishes that are always tasty. They’re also well known for their mimosas and bloody marys.

After brunch, head to one of the King William District BCycle stops to grab a bike and ride around this beautiful historic stretch of San Antonio. The neighborhood spans around 25 blocks and has some of the most beautiful mansions in the city, with historical significance behind most. For information on the exact history of the individual houses, download the King William Walking Tour.

Mission San Jose y San Miguel de Aguayo is a historic Catholic mission in San Antonio.

For dinner, the nearby River Walk is a perfect spot. Plan on spending some time walking along the river, enjoying the scenery and people, with boats floating by, before sitting down for a meal. Stop at the romantic Biga on the Banks for an upscale dinner of local specialities and a frequently changing menu.

End your night with some good drinks and a beautiful view of the San Antonio skyline. Paramour is a popular rooftop bar serving amazing cocktails and specialty drinks. You’ll want to spend the whole night in one of their rooftop lounging sections underneath the stars.

The buzz of San Antonio continues into the night with bars and restaurants coming alive.

Sunday Daytime

Start your Sunday on the other side of town enjoying San Antonio’s Hill Country. Begin with brunch at The Cheesecake Factory in the La Cantera shopping center; it’s always delicious, and this particular location has great outdoor seating. Afterward, enjoy some shopping, and then wind down with a movie at the nearby Santikos Palladium IMAX theater. As you walk in, you’re met with a gelato stand offering over 20 different flavors, all of which can be enjoyed during the movie.

Sunday Evening

End the weekend with dinner at Whiskey Cake. Their mixed drinks and cocktails come with freshly squeezed juice; their menu is farm-to-table, and they offer gluten-free alternatives to almost any item on the menu. The atmosphere is welcoming, rustic, and modern. It’s an ideal place to reminisce about a weekend well spent.
