Fringed by white-sand beaches and clear waters, Tybee Island is a stunning spot less than 30 minutes from Savannah. Historians believe the name of the island derives from the Native American Euchee Indian word for “salt,” which was one of many natural resources found in the area. Today, visitors from Savannah and beyond flock to Tybee to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, beach activities and delicious seafood.
