Providence is well known for its delicious Italian cuisine, but not many know it as a haven for vegans. The city offers plenty of vegan-friendly eateries that have several vegetarian options as well, so there is something for everybody’s taste buds.

1. The Grange

Restaurant, American

This all-in-one vegetarian hub serves up freshly made juices and seasonal dishes, so there’s always something new on the menu to check out next time. The Grange also has a cocktail bar and a famous vegan bakery, where you can even get pastries to go to save for later. The highlight of The Grange is their musical guests—live music and comedy are featured at the restaurant a few times per month. So, be sure to catch a show.

2. Julians

Pub, American

Julians has been serving Providence for over two decades. They’re known for their New American fare and also their plentiful vegan options. The Vegan Tasting Board is a big favorite on the menu, with herbed cashew cheese, jam, smoked mushroom pâté, and pickled vegetables. The Vegan Steak & Cheese Wrap is also popular. The best part is that Julians is always willing to personalize and customize, so feel comfortable swapping out this for that and adding in tofu or vegan tempeh “sausage” to switch up a meal.

3. Veggie Fun

Restaurant, Asian

Veggie Fun serves up Pan-Asian kosher and vegan eats in downtown Providence. The casual well-decorated restaurant is a treat for vegans, as it’s not always easy to find vegan, Asian-inspired entrées. The mission of the eatery is to remain holistic with your diet, environment, and surroundings, and to aim for good health and good taste. You’ll find quite a community at Veggie Fun, where everyone is friendly and welcoming. Be sure to try the Curry Stew and the Kung Pao Eggplant.

4. Garden Grille

Cafe, Vegetarian, Vegan

Garden Grille serves up locally sourced food using organic ingredients, so you can always enjoy high-quality, delicious meals. Their menu changes regularly and seasonally, and there are always plenty of vegan and raw eats available. With over 20 years of experience, you can trust them when it comes to vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free modifications. Try the Korean Tacos and Reggie’s Raw Heaven—both of which are tasty summer meals.

5. By CHLOE.

Cafe, Vegan

By CHLOE. may be a vegan chain, but it’s a very good one. The café’s menu consists of vegan eats, including salads, sandwiches, and sweets served up in a well-decorated, relaxing interior. Be sure to try the mac ‘n’ cheese with shiitake bacon and sweet potato cashew cheese. Treat yourself to a sweet push pop for dessert—the quinoa horchata and birthday cake flavors are the best.

6. Wildflour

Bakery, Cafe, Vegan, Kosher, Gluten-free

Pawtucket’s Wildflour is a vegan bakery that strives to use as few processed ingredients as possible. Not only does this make for healthier food but also a much fresher taste. Wildflour sells fresh juices, smoothies, salads, and much more for lunch. If you’re feeling up for something sweet, treat yourself to one of their vegan pastries that even your non-vegan friends will savor.

7. Gracie’s
