Luck Bros Coffee House

Surrounded by historic architecture and a strand of humble shops and galleries is Luck Bros Coffee Shop in Grandview Heights. This is a simple neighborhood shop that brews superb coffee without any of the hipster coffee shop pretension. Small batch local coffee is served hot as a pour-over, Kyoto-style as a cold brew, and taste-tested every morning to ensure freshness. The friendly baristas will doctor your coffee in whatever way you choose while spinning classic vinyl. Nibbles like donuts from local bakery Destination Donuts are brought in every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning as well as the housemade ‘Breakfast Bake,’ made with eggs, potatoes, cheese and kielbasa.

One Line Coffee

A father and son team opened One Line Coffee in Short North in 2009, concentrating on fair trade roasts and local farming practices. One Line specializes in pour-over and cold brew methods, and are a unique shop in that they sell only single-origin, non-blended coffee. The roasts rotate and range from the local ‘Method’ espresso to imports like the Costa Rican ‘San Jose Black Honey.’ Local baked goods are available as well as three types of loose leaf tea. On weekends, One Line usually hosts public cupping sessions and brewing workshops.

Upper Cup Coffee

Upper Cup Coffee was founded by Micael Habte in 2001 and practices in-house roasting techniques. Habte grew up in Eritrea, a coffee capital of the world, where his mother roasted coffee over a fire and boiled it in a clay pot, a technique that is now used in Upper Cup. This cozy spot in Olde Towne East imports coffee from all over the world, and roasts it in-house for the freshest brew. The menu offers flavored lattes, iced coffee, and teas made by several different methods including drip and French press. Don’t miss the delicious sandwiches served all day.

The Roosevelt Coffeehouse

The Roosevelt Coffee Shop is great coffee for a great cause. This is a completely non-for-profit organization that channels their proceeds into an array of charities that fight for clean water initiatives, the abolition of sex trafficking, and alleviating poverty. On top of a noble cause, the Roosevelt also serves excellent coffee from creamy lattes to aromatic espresso shots alongside a selection of local pastries.
