YO! Sushi is known for its conveyor belt menu options. But the British chain, with restaurants in New York City and Boston, is set to debut a tasting menu experience that is perfect for date night.

YO! Sushi’s Flatiron, New York City location will be offering an 8-course “kaiten-kase” experience this Valentine’s Day and on other special occasions throughout the year. YO! is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and this new menu is an integral part of commemorating 20 years of dining innovation. The Flatiron location is newly renovated by DGA LTD Architects & Interior Designers, complete with LED lighting and stainless steel countertops to offer a trendy vibe for this one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Menu items include salmon sashimi with heirloom tomato, hamachi and orange ponzu, and a selection of ice cream mochi. The menu options take a creative twist on traditional Japanese dishes, and can be accompanied by various sake pairings.

I recently previewed the special menu at the Flatiron location where Chef John Hashimoto prepared the 8-courses. Chef Hashimoto explained that the courses were not chosen haphazardly. Rather, each dish is meant to represent the best of what YO! has to offer in an experience like no other. The perfectly-timed conveyor belt that brings the food directly to your seat in lieu of a waiter paired with the music that somehow syncs seamlessly with the rhythm of the meal made for a night I won’t soon forget.

There’s still time to book your table for YO!’s special Valentine’s Day seating. Reservations will be available for seatings at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM for up to 30 people at each seating, which can be made by emailing kaitenkasenyc@yosushi.com or kaitenkaseboston@yosushi.com.

And, of course, be on the lookout for other special seatings throughout the year.
