Located in Reno, 4th St. Bistro is a warm and friendly spot specializing in contemporary American cuisine, yet inspired by flavors from around the world. Established in 2000 by chef Natalie Sellers and general manager Carol Wilson, the restaurant sits inside a converted house and has an elegant atmosphere. Using the best, organic and locally-sourced ingredients, the chef creates a delectable seasonal menu. Highlights include the crispy leg of O’Liberty duck confit, served with wild-rice pilaf, mustardy Brussels sprouts and aïoli, or organic orecchiette pasta with butternut squash, kale, mushrooms and parmesan. Situated off the 18th hole at the renowned Edgewood Tahoe golf course, Brooks’ Bar and Deck is a casual place serving American cuisine. A large deck and beautiful interior, complete with vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, allow guests to enjoy their meals all the while taking in picturesque views of the magnificent Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe and verdant golf course. Located in the Victorian-era town of Virginia City, Cafe Del Rio is a lovely restaurant specializing in Southwestern cuisine. Opened in 2005 and nestled inside the historic Werrin Building, this welcoming café features a menu packed full of flavor that will tickle the taste buds of those seeking meat, seafood or vegetarian items. Serving lunch, dinner and brunch, diners can feast upon everything from ‘gospel’ fried chicken to Yucatan enchiladas: shrimp, crab and artichoke hearts in blue corn tortillas, with cheese and ancho chili cream. Part of Pahrump Valley Winery, the largest-producing winery in Nevada, Symphony’s is an upscale yet casual restaurant serving a host of Continental dishes. Named after the winery’s award-winning wine of the same name, the restaurant features a beautiful, warm interior with large windows, with incredible views of the grounds and Mt. Charleston Peak. Adult guests can enjoy delicious entrées, including filet medallions with a peppercorn rub topped with a shallot, butter and brandy sauce, or blackened mahi-mahi with cucumber relish accompanied by fresh vegetables and rice pilaf. Dinner reservations are recommended.

The Basil

Located in Fallon, a farming and ranching community east of Reno, The Slanted Porch is a charming venue nestled inside a converted early-20th-century house. This farm-to-table restaurant sources the freshest ingredients available from local farmers, which in turn allows the culinary team to create new menus each season. Enticing options to note are the artichoke chicken breast in a creamy sun-dried tomato sauce with a choice of side, including roasted red potatoes; macaroni and cheese with apple wood smoked bacon and herb breadcrumbs; and filet mignon topped with chive butter.

The Star Hotel

Established in 1910, The Star Hotel is as popular as ever, and it is easy to see why, with its comforting Basque cuisine and lively atmosphere. Changing hands between many Basque families over the years, its current owners, Scott and Tricia Ygoa, continue the tradition of serving tasty family-style fare, and creating a friendly environment. Open for lunch and dinner, guests can try the grilled chicken or New York steak piled high with garlic, or even sautéed prawns. Making sure that everyone leaves truly content, each entrée comes with soup, salad, bread, Basque beans, pasta, vegetables and fries, finishing with coffee or tea. A variety of sweet treats are also available, as well as the famous Picon Punch, a pre-dinner drink.
