There’s nothing like being able to spend time with the ones you love in a relaxed setting. In Maryland, there are many fun-filled activities to participate in with your family that will not break the bank, and will allow you to make new memories in fantastic places. Here are the best family-friendly activities in Maryland.

Ocean City

Ocean City is the perfect place to spend time with your family as it’s only a few hours away from Baltimore. That makes it an easy day trip or weekend adventure, as you won’t have to worry about getting on a plane or making a long drive with anxious children. Ocean City is a medley of activity; including a Ferris wheel, arcade games for children, funnel cakes, popcorn, and little souvenir shops all up-and-down the boardwalk. Since there are so many things to do, it may be easy to forget to spend some time on the beach, but make sure you make time to soak up the sun.

Assateague Island

Assateague Island is a part of Assateague State Park, which is Maryland’s only park that gives you a perfect oceanfront view. This state park is nestled perfectly in the middle of natural wildlife such as waterfowl, wild horses, and a front-row look onto the Atlantic Ocean. This is a fabulous place for a family to spend time together as camping is available at this park, along with surfing, fishing, sunbathing, and kayaking. There are a ton of water activities that will make spending family time together with the children more enjoyable.

The Maryland Science Center is a great place for children with curious minds, and parents who’ve raised them to be adventurous and inquisitive. At the Maryland Science Center, there are many unique exhibits which are aimed at teaching children new things and ideas, while making learning fun, as they get a really hands-on experience. There are many exhibits, such as the Blue Crab exhibit, the dinosaur exhibit, and the Newton’s Alley exhibit, where children can learn about energy, force, and motion.

2. National Aquarium

The National Aquarium is an ideal place for families with young children to learn about water, fish, and the animals that thrive in the sea. There are exhibits about the coral reef, an exhibit entirely dedicated to sharks, and a tropical rainforest exhibit. Children, as well as their parents, are able to stroll through this aquarium and learn about the wonders of the sea and see live animals up close and personal.

Port Discovery is all about children learning about creativity in a hands-on at this children’s museum. At Port Discovery, children can play and learn about making healthy food choices, as well as learn the importance of exercise and cooking fresh foods. This is a great family outing as parents are able to reinforce the different things their children are learning, while their children are having fun playing, reading, climbing, and even zip-lining.
